This is an updated take on a Boros heroic deck that I ran at the beginning of Theros. This deck builds upon the 3 main heroic power houses that make this deck work so damn fast: Favored Hoplite, Phalanx Leader, and Satyr Hoplite, who is new in Journey into Nyx.
Before anyone recommends Fabled Hero, know that he used to be in the original version of this deck. I decided to take him out for 2 reasons: 1: I feel that a on turn three, hes already a little late to the party. Hell, I want to be WINNING on turn three or four, not just putting my threats onto the field. 2: As soon as he hits the field he has a HUGE target on his forehead, and I don't want the opponent to see the doublestrike coming, which is why I prefer to run Boros Charm, Ajani, Caller of the Pride, and the still unproven Phalanx Formation (I'm skeptical about its effectiveness).
I'm tinkering with the deck to run as fast as humanly possible, while still having some answers to all the removal in the current meta. I was pulling turn 3-5 wins often with the original version of the deck, and I feel with some recent additions, I might just be able to make heroic work, though its mostly just a lot of fun trying to keep my creatures alive a few turns... Its always enjoyable to play a match and experience this scenario: "Oh, you don't want to declare blockers on my 3/4 Favored Hoplite? Boom! Titan's Strength! Bam! Boros Charm! Now he's a 8/7 double striker and that's game. The look on people's faces is well worth the somewhat inconsistent nature of this deck archetype.
If you have any suggestions about ways to make the deck faster/more consistent, feel free to comment. Once I give it a few plays this weekend I'm sure there with be things to tweak. I'm thinking I might need to add at least 4 more creatures for consistency.
