Red/black dash response deck built with the new dash mechanic.
This deck is pretty flexible and can jump from offensive to defensive as needed.
Against aggro: use burn and board wipes to clear, then dash in for quick hits.
Against control: if board control, play dash. If hand control, hard cast.
Against combo: burn their combo away.
The biggest part of this deck is acknowledging that life is just a resource. If you win with 1 life, it's still a win. This deck is mostly responsive to your opponents, and by turn 3 you should have your strategy down.
Oddballs:Evolving Wilds: finds the Swamp for
Ambuscade Shaman
and removes 2 cards from your library to help you play more aggressively.
3x
Warbringer
: yes, it's redundant. Yes, dashing an
Ambuscade Shaman
and
Sprinting Warbrute
for 1 each is awesome. Yes, I'd rather get this card out sooner than later. Best case scenario, you have 1 when you need it. Worst case scenario, you can dash him in with one already in play for 2.
Stormrider Rig
: I had it lying around, but I love that it auto-attaches on entry. Helps protect Amsbuscade Shaman and
Warbringer
, can also move to a freshly dashed creature to extra swing damage.
Everything else should be pretty self explanatory. I'll mulligan if I don't have 2 mana in hand since most of the deck can be played with that. My normal strategy is to dash off the bat for some quick damage before having to respond to your opponent.
T1: Frenzied Goblin or Lightning Berserker. If you don't have either in hand, then now's a good time to drop an Evolving Wilds, Bloodfell Caves, or Swamp instead of a Mountain.
T2: It all depends on your hand, but you should be able to play something. If you got the Frenzied Goblin out, maybe you can swing unblocked with a Titan's Strength on him. Maybe dash Mardu Scout,
Screamreach Brawler
, or play the Stormrider's rig. If you're low on creatures in hand, use the Magma Jet to scry, or setup Impact Tremors for T3.
T3: We'll assume you can play a third land and hardcast Amsbuscade Shaman. If not, there's a couple other options depending on your T1 and T2. Maybe you need to drop an Anger of the Gods to kill their mana ramp. If you have Impact Tremors in, play a couple of the 1 and 2 drops.
T4: You should now know what you're playing against and know whether to dash or hardcast
Warbringer
(depending on what else is in your hand). Get the
Outpost Siege
setup: if you're definitely going to be dashing, choose Dragons. If you need more card draw, choose Khans.
