Who said Angels and Demons can’t be friends!?

Setup:

As always, early mana is important. Land drops and mana ramp early are very important as the deck really relies on its 5- and 6-drop commanders in the later game. However, getting some consistent ways to gain life on opponents’ turns is a great way to start the game. Soul Warden , Soul's Attendant , Suture Priest , Authority of the Consuls , Kambal, Consul of Allocation , and Sunscorth Regent are are great here.

The Engine:

Krav, the Unredeemed and Regna, the Redeemer are quite the pair. If they both stick on the battlefield, it is not hard to run away with the game. Their abilities are so complimentary. In one round of the table, it is entirely possible to draw 8 (!) cards, gain a bit of life, and make a huge commander threat for 4 total mana... Crested Sunmare does a slightly altered imitation of Regna. Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos are completely nasty when this engine is humming.

Big Plays:

Sometimes, the slow burn of Krav and Regna just isn’t enough. This is where you pull out the big, sweeping plays. Army of the Damned , Finale of Glory , Secure the Wastes and Elenda, the Dusk Rose can all put huge numbers of creatures onto the battlefield, which can be used to take out opponents and/or refill your hand with a huge number of cards (keep in mind, Krav will let you draw 13 cards from your Army of the Damned tokens for only 1 mana! If Krav is on the battlefield, I will only cast these huge army-in-a-card spells when I have an extra black mana so I can draw in response to a wrath or other effect that typically take these armies out.

One of my favorite cards in the deck is one that has limited uses: Awaken the Erstwhile . A new card with obviously skeptical drawbacks, it can be amazing here. With Krav, we are able to sacrifice our tokens and immediately refill our hand, leaving our opponents with a few 2/2s and no hand while we get to go about playing the game like normal.

Another way to break the game open is to abuse Living Death . The key here is to cast the spell after sacrificing your whole board (including Krav). You wipe out everyone else’s board (even indestructible things) and simply reset your own.

Control:

Orzhov has some of the absolute best removal in the game and it would be a shame not to mention it. I strove for the most flexible removal I could find: Despark , Utter End , Anguished Unmaking , and Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim exile almost anything. Merciless Eviction and Cleansing Nova are superb modal board wipes.

Winning:

Krav can easily eliminate players if he is left unchecked, but that is not too common. Occasionally, swarming the board with tokens works, though many decks do that better than us. Blood Artist effects are a way to quickly close out a game for us as well. Given all the life we are gaining, Bolas's Citadel can snowball quickly. Perhaps my favorite, however, is Revel in Riches . Revel can easily achieve its win condition itself, but we also have two other Treasure makers that can easily amass the required total: Smothering Tithe is great just about any time during the game and Pitiless Plunderer is absurd in a deck churning through its own creatures at the rate ours does. In short, we have a plethora of ways to win, so finding a way to close out the game shouldn’t be an issue.

Well, thanks for joining me! Let me know what you think and feel free to check out my other decks as well!

Updates Add

New set, new deck! With some great cards coming in with WotS, changed needed to be made! In come Finale of Glory, Despark, Command the Dreadhorde, Cruel Celebrant, and of course the extremely powerful Bola’s Citadel.

Additionally, acquired Aura of Silence, Oketra's Monument, Polluted Bonds, Dread Return, Diabolic Intent, and Teysa, Orzhov Scion that all deserve a place here.

No really notable cards coming out. Almost everything coming in is simply more powerful or more versatile than cards previous in the deck.
