How do you guys think this would stack up against the current meta?

I know the SB can use some work.

It seems like you aren't adequetely supporting your win condition, which is basically (from what I can tell) using Obliterator to take over games. (Gary is decent, but not something to rely on.)

For some reason, I feel like Liliana OTV would be good in this deck. Maybe make it a bit more control-ey, like... here, here's a decklist I whipped up: MBD test list

I pulled it outta my ass, but it's got the general idea down.

Hm!, I do like the decklist you made slovakattack I was actually going to toss Griselbrand in here since i'll be getting a promo version at the GP this weekend .

Lili, is just no bueno for me because she's so expensive and the GP is so close, So that's why I went Smallpox with recursion creatures like Gravecrawler and Bloodghast.

And yes totally I was thinking Batterskull for sure because it makes a Gary or Gatekeeper of Malakir more useful.

What do you guys think of a Wurmcoil Engine or 2?

Oh also, I was thinking of putting Sign in Blood(s) in the SB in case they start chasing after my Phyrexian Arena(s).

Just not sure what id sub out.. Hero's Downfall? or Hex Parasite?

Why Hero's Downfall? Anti-lili tech? I can see maybe a 1x in the SB but I could be off there.

Yeah, Lili is going to be EVERYWHERE lol.

And for Tron, I expect to see some Ugin, and Karns. But I could easily take a couple out for something else.

What do you think of Exsanguinate? Kinda fun with devotion. I don't know how competitive it is, but definitely fun. I have a couple in my (casua-only) MBD build The Unfriending Apparatus.

Do you have Fulminator Mage? A couple in SB might be handy.

@scrotality ah man, I wish I had some Fulminator Mage(s) it'd go in the SB for sure.

Maybe if I come across some between now and GP time i'll try to grip it.

I still think Hero's Downfall doesn't belong here, though.

You could splash green for Abrupt Decay, Golgari Charm, and Maelstrom Pulse. They're all really good.

Also, you asked about meta? I remember telling you to go anti-ETB back (in what was it, JOU?) a while ago, but now without pod your worst matchup is probably not junk, but maybe twin(?). It's burn and counters will disrupt you while it streamlines a beating. ETB is still an asshole, but at least not as much as before.

Either way, as slovakattack (who's name is treachery) mentioned, Batterskull seems like a great niche card (or wurmcoil for a worse alternative). Yea, lili is great, but don't feel preasured to use it. It's really costly.

I like the use of Gatekeeper of Malakir, just not sure if he would work if I mainboarded him into my midrange mono-black deck Mono-Black WINNING. Any advice would be welcome. +1 upvote for the mono-black devotion!

Obliterator is one of my favorite black cards ever, I played this deck at a GP a few years, back, didn't place but man did I have alot of fun playing it.

(Took down Tier 1 Infect one match even)
