Krav and Regna are this adorable couple form Battlebond, fighting side by side, their respective abilities complementing each others quite perfectly. They are the base for this flavourfull dec based on combining lifegain and token sacrefice.
Winning a game with Krav and Regna: death by a thousand triggers
This dec doesn't contain any descisive combo or huge threats that instentaneosly wins you the game. It contains a few bombs (such as
Archfiend of Despair
wich I was lucky enough to open in a Battlebond booster) and a few heavy hitters (
Ajani's Pridemate
and
Bloodbond Vampire
) but the main win condition of this dec is to slowly chip away at the opponents life total while increasing yours.
Since this dec is mostly oriented toward multiplayer (the funniest way to play commander); I went nuts with the curses that are great political tools and also decides not to play a
Aetherflux Reservoir
. This card is a cool win condition in a duel, but not against more opponents.
Sacrifice engine:
Krav, the Unredeemed
is the go-to sacrefice engine of this dec. He'll drown you in card advantage and life gain as long as ou can keep up with the supply of sacrefice fodder. He'll also pump itself up any time he does so and will quikly become a very big creature (but thatcan easly be chump-blocked as long has it doesn't have any evasion. I thought about playing Ethernal thirst to solve that issue). Beware as it might attract some attention at the table, and a dead Krav set you back quite a few turns.
Alternatively, Priest of the Forgetten gods can very much lock a game, forcing opponent to sacrefice their creatures and still offering you resources to keep on playing.
Sacrifice fodder:
Our sacrifice engines are nothing without fuel to burn!
Regna, the Redeemer
provides the most reliable source of tokens, creating 2 Warriors at each endstep if you can manage to gain life. Unfortunately, she is quite expensive to cast and your opponents might not like having a 4/4 flying on the board. Make sure that ou can protect her or that you have other sources of fodder on the battlefield.
Regal Bloodlord
serves a similar purpouse than Regna, while being worst at what she does. The bloodlord only gives you one token at the end of your turn but redondancies are key in commander so he might stay in this dec a while.
Hidden Stockpile
will also give you a token per turn when you sacreficed some creatures.
Beside tokens, some creatures can be played from the cemetary, granted some conditions that are reasonably easy to satisfy with this dec:
Reassembling Skeleton
and
Oathsworn Vampire
. As long as nobody exiles your cemetary, you should have a few creatures that you can sacrefice over and over.
Nether Traitor
and
Bloodghast
would be amazing in this dec but are a bit out of my budget.
Protecting the combo:
Loosing Krav or Regna sets you back quite a few turns, disabelling your value engines while increasing their mana cost. Since either of the two commanders aren't cheap, It can become very unconveignant to spend all you mana in them.
Hence the need of protecting the two of them once they are in the battlefield.
Lightning Greaves
and
Swiftfoot Boots
do the trick quite well.
Supernatural Stamina
and the soon to be released
Kaya's Ghostform
can also save on of our creature once.
Together Forever
is quite a flavourfull way to protect Krav and Regna. It won't keep them in the battlefield but it will at least keep the commander tax from increasing. Also,
Spirit Bonds
looks like an awesome way to protect you board. I'll need to test it.
Nim Deathmantle
seems like a good way to save your comanders, albeit at the steep coast of .
Also, this deck gets uttelrly screwed by the single presence of a card stating "your opponents can't gain life".
"Okay, but where's your wincon?"
I must admit that I don't quite really know yet.
This deck is mosty build as a value engine using the aristocrate sacrifice of recuring creatures. What it does currently is killing your opponent slowly by a thousand triggers. I managed to earn a few wins by relentlessly triggering "opponent lose 1 life abilities" but that's not supper reliable.
Hopefully Krav's value engine would allow me to dig for bombs or finishers. Demons such as
Archfiend of Despair
,
Demon of Catastrophes
and
Abyssal Persecutor
(that I would sacrifice when I feel confident about winning) provide good finishers.
Felidar Sovereign
can also be a wincon, if I figure what to replace for him. I don't find
Aetherflux Reservoir
very attractive of a wincon since it gets rather difficult to opperate in multiplayer.
Eventual Rework
I might evenually rework this commander dec into a
Teysa, Orzhov Scion
commander, going with a spirit sinergy.
