OH!! okay awesome i thought.. for some weird reason "i have 4 Cavern of Souls i call out humans on the first now they're all humans.." no idea why i thought that. okay perfect. i was playing the game slower than usual because of that misunderstanding..

i was playing a game and i would've been able to play Thundermaw Hellkite and i had a Cavern of Souls in my hand and the rest on my field were, 1 Cavern of Souls (humans ) and three plains. i didn't play that Thundermaw Hellkite because of my misunderstanding.

because of that misunderstanding i was going to put away two Cavern of Souls just for regular lands.. haha nevermind! thanks!

Looks solid, however I would suggest dropping Champion of the Parish in favor of Stromkirk Noble . With the only two drop being Lightning Mauler , your going to more often than not miss out on some damage by being unable to pump Champion reliably on turn two.

How good is the mana? Being able to go WW into RR from turn three and four looks a little ambitious.

Ahh. i see your point i actually spent sometime looking at Champion of the Parish and Lightning Mauler with the fact that, i am losing my tribal theme for humans, and that i can replace both since most of my creatures now have haste. but replacing them will either slow my deck down or build momentum (depending on what i put in)

i was thinking 4 Stromkirk Noble in place of parish, and maybe... 4 Vexing Devil ? thoughts?

As for the Mana it does seem ambitious but because of all the dual lands, and cavern of souls i am able to go from WW - RR . even Boros Reckoner given i have a Cavern of Souls in hand. the mana works out well

Never ever Vexing Devil , trust me...

I would keep the Lightning Mauler s to compliment your three drops. A hasty Recokner is just as good as Boggart Ram-Gang ! You can also enable battalion on Frontline Medic straight away and pairing it with Silverblade Paladin to smack for eight out of nowhere is wonderfully entertaining.

hmm. yea did some play-testing but its iffy with Stromkirk Noble because most games i am doing Champion of the Parish goes up to a 5 - 6 tops. he gets pumped him because it isn't just Lightning Mauler i also have my Silverblade Paladin and Frontline Medic yes stromkirk gets pumped to a 2 faster at times but champion can be pumped to be higher. or it just seems that way to me whenever i play with him? -- i will do play testing with the Stromkirk Noble in place of my parish's

interesting just did it and Champion of the Parish let's me deal way more in fact. because yes lightning mauler is my only two but he has a great chance coming out. and i had the "perfect hand" 1st strom, 2nd, lightning mauler --- now turn two that would be 4 damage with Champion of the Parish because Lightning Mauler comes in, pumps him him, then both have haste and swing. but without him that would just be 3 damage. and not to mention my tthird turn is Silverblade Paladin pair him with Lightning Mauler pump up Champion of the Parish to a 3, and the nswing for 11 on my third turn. 3 from parish and 4 a piece with Silverblade Paladin and Lightning Mauler

Thats pretty much just the 'god hand'. Your more likely to see Boros Charm or Searing Spear on two. However, if you feel that Champion can grow fast enough regardless, then keep him, by all means.

61% of your creatures are human. To fully utilize a Champion of the Parish , you'd want to have no less than 75%. Otherwise there is just wasted potential in him.

To reach that mark you would want around 20/26 humans in your deck. Right now you only have 16/20. You might want to consider Boros Elite again for a faster deck, or maybe even find another good 2-drop human. Thalia, Guardian of Thraben would be a funny mainboard (but good). I've also found that Ash Zealot , Elite Inquisitor , Precinct Captain , even Knight of Glory are powerful humans at the 2-drop spot. Mainly for the first strike and dodge ability.

good point there Vos_Is_Boss so my question is , take out parish for storm then? In the event that I do not get the "good hand" and yes I did face that inability to pump parish in a game he remind a 2/2 3/3 most.

Vos_Is_Boss i think that the way the deck is is solid enough the change is always good with Boros Elite but the exchange with Hellrider and two Thundermaw Hellkite make the deck to be feared if they last long enough to turn 5 or so. but even then, turn 7-8 the damage is Relentless and never ending.

i am going to another FNM this coming friday, i will let you know how the turnings go. so far just for casual games with friends and around the deck is a bit slower without Boros Elite but gets the job done finishing them off quicker at turn 5. i feel that with Boros Elite yea the momentum builds quicker and chips them off by bulk but with Hellrider and Thundermaw Hellkite it's more like a hay-maker

we also can't forget Blasphemous Act is there when used, hit Boros Reckoner and that's an added 26 or 13 damage depending if i have one or two out on the field.

Hellrider is stronger with cheap guys, and lots of them. But that doesnt mean he isnt strong without them. He is a wonderful card if you can drop a creature on turn 1, turn 2, and turn 3. With the curve you have, it is entirely possible, and very likely.

However, i am a over-possessed lady when it comes to the human archetype. So i tend to favor them over anything else. In this deck... i really think you'll find more from Stromkirk Noble , as he can actually be unblockable in a lot of cases, and will almost always do what you want.

and yes, we're all aware of the Blasphemous Act combo :P haha. Everyone loves that one.

I have a similar deck that uses the same combo with Boros Reckoner and Blasphemous Act , except I use Stuffy Doll and Into the Maw of Hell as well. Check it out, Stuffed Reckoner is Blasphemous.

have you thought of Spark Trooper for some life gain/ton of damage?

Vos_Is_Boss i see strom's power now and yes you're right. Champion of the Parish will lose his true potential. I was looking it as , "yea he gets pumped up" but not fully to where he 'can' be. As for Stromkirk Noble he is getting big and quick. The comment i mentioned earlier , yes it is"more"damage at the beginning by one. But in the end Strom mid to late game is pumped up to a 5 or 6 maybe a 7 if he swings every turn and that's ridiculous. Awesome input thanks Vos_Is_Boss

m12fox I have and I do use him in my side deck :) only when I know my humans for some reason may not do enough damage I take two medics out to put him in . He hits hard, double strike with Silverblade Paladin and if I'm lucky enough I am using Volcanic Strength on him. ( I usually out in volcanic and spark in at the same time for that reason.

Vos_Is_Boss I did the change and was play testing proxy and online testing here it seems like the deck has slowed down a lot. I'm thinking going back to my human archetype then just replacing the two with either two hell riders or thundermaw hellkites . Bah I am so confused. What are your thoughts?

March 27, 2013 8:14 a.m.

Vos_Is_Boss says... #21

They are different decks, and you have to make the choice between speed and power. Both are good, its just what you prefer.

March 27, 2013 9:07 a.m.

paololol says... #22

Do you think, that quicker beats slow? - though the slow is very powerful but faster chips away with maybe 8-10 at then 3-4

Depends on the deck you are facing

March 27, 2013 1:19 p.m.

Vos_Is_Boss says... #24

If a slower more powerful deck can survive to turn 5, the more powerful deck will generally win.
