I have thought for quite some time now that Melek is the type of General that can be fun, and competitive, but also very different from game to game.

Basically you spend the early turns casting cantrips, and draw spells, trying to stick a few mana rocks, and assemble some of the rituals or spells that untap lands. Once Melek, Izzet Paragon hits the tables all of these seemingly harmless cantrips and tutors quickly turn into massive card advantage, and they also dig you towards some of your haymaker win-cons like Comet Storm and Epic Experiment. Or even a long string of casting rituals, and cantrips to get your storm count up and then mowing everyone down with a Ignite Memories or Grapeshot

Runechanter's Pike and Sphinx-Bone Wand can help you to have lasting threats even after you storm out and kill a player or two.

Rite of Replication, and Blatant Thievery have the ability to steal a game sometimes, and especially if they happen to be cast from the top of your library.
