I really wanted to make something extremely similar, but I want to stay away from the RTR block just because it doesn't have much longer in standard.

Thanks everyone! Here's what I'm going to try something like this out later: -1 Oppressive Rays, -1 Pacifism, -1 Sphere of Safety; +3 Ajani's Chosen for a (hopefully) more consistent late-game transition into aggro.

Actually I took out 2 Eidolon of Countless Battles because I was really only using it as a late-late game bestow finisher. We'll see how it goes when I can try it out after work later!

I really don't think ajanis chosen should be here. It's just too slow and unreliable.

its a nice finisher with all the enchantments though, it won me some games

I agree that it's slow. I am not a huge fan of the card, and I think a 4 drop that dies to any removal before it affects boardstate at all seems bad. Most likely, it's coming right back out and I'll be trying something else.

Soul Tithe should be in this deck, It's the essence of banking! lol

And maybe Gift of Immortality for some more enchantment fun

I'd just move countless battles back to 4. He will almost always be useful. Either as a creature or a late game finisher.

Do you find that Eidolon of Rhetoric helps you more then hurts you?

I like how enables me to lock things down as fast as they get played, but I also think it makes me weaker to control, so I've been thinking of trying out other coveted 3 drops

I know that it's out of color but Possibility Storm is primed to take advantage of the potential combo with Eidolon of Rhetoric to create a lock on the game. If you have superior board presence, you win.

That combo wasn't on my radar at all! I will not run it though, just because it is off-color and I'm not 100% sure I'll even be keeping Eidolon of Rhetoric in the Mainboard when I finally narrow this thing down into its most competitive form. But, combo away, my friend!

I've been playtesting a slightly tweaked version of this deck and found it extremely effective:

-1 Sphere of Safety , as I don't really want to draw that in my opening hand. In fact I don't want it at all until at least turn 5.

Ethereal Armor was only a two-of, I made it a three-of because even though this isn't an aggro deck it's an incredibly powerful card in this enchantment archetype.

-1 Pacifism . You mentioned having trouble finding targets for his exiles and control spells eventually, and this card is one of the easiest to drop. I've also noticed that many creatures right now have active or passive abilities that make them worth having on the battlefield even if they can't attack or block, which makes this card that much less important.

-1 Eidolon of Rhetoric . If you already have one of these on the field, having two out isn't going to help you.

3x Negate Mainboarded because it's perfect for this deck. The enchantments can handle their creatures, and now Negate can handle Sphinx's Revelation and Thoughtseize or Duress (if it's after T1).

-1Oppressive Rays . Between three each of Oppressive Rays and Sphere of Safety , you shouldn't need more mana cost restrictions on attackers. The mana cost from this card applies to blockers too, but a bunch of other cards in this deck already make it difficult for opponents to even have creatures on the field, let alone block with them.

-1 Heliod, God of the Sun because I don't want him until I have the devotion for him, the creatures he generates are expensive, and vigilance doesn''t matter unless you're attacking, which this deck doesn't do until endgame anyways.

+1 AEtherling because if one of them gets Thoughtseize d, Duress ed, or Rakdos's Return ed out of my hand I want to have another.

My sideboard looks like this:

3x Celestial Flare for hexproof/protection

3x Pithing Needle for planeswalkers

3x Deicide for gods

3x Aegis of the Gods for Thoughtseize , Devour Flesh , Duress , and standard burn.

3x Rapid Hybridization for a more aggressive solution to protection creatures like Stormbreath Dragon and Blood Baron of Vizkopa .

Less variety than yours has, but it's much more specific to the most serious weaknesses I face. It's also cheap, because I don't have and can't afford Elspeth haha

peterpanning I have wanted Negate in the Main much more often than another Oppressive Rays , you're right! And you totally called the extra AEtherling , which is something else I've wanted to make room for. Solid advice.

The sad thing is I have a house-warming thing to go to tonight, so hey, if anyone runs this bad boy tonight, let me hear about it please!

One more change that I might try to make: Gift of Orzhova as late-game evasion or early-game lifelink. I'm just not sure what I'd take out for it in either the mainboard or sideboard. Another alternative is Ephara's Radiance just to make Nyx-Fleece Ram a potential 4 lifegain per turn, but I'm worried that might be deviating too far from the heavy control theme in the deck. Dunno. If anyone gets to playtest any of this, please let us know.

This is great, and I'm glad to see it getting so much love from the community. I have been working on something similar only in Orzhov: Orzhov Pillow Church.

Some thoughts from end that you might consider: I mainboard 4x Spirit of the Labyrinth . Just like your build, I am never going to be drawing more than one card a turn, so I really like to make sure my opponent can't get the card advantage. Plus, I find it nice to have cheap enchantment spells at all points in the game.

I also play Soul Tithe specifically because it can hit something other than creatures, which I have found to be really helpful.

I also throw in a couple copies of Gideon, Champion of Justice . Since you won't be killing creatures, just slowing or locking them down, he can ultimate pretty easily.

Just some ideas, I'm not sure they are good suggestions, but thought I'd chime in with the different things I'd been trying.

I am becoming more and more interested in Gideon, that's a very considerable suggestion!!
