Oh, but I almost forgot: Manabarbs + Personal Sanctuary = Very cool combo. I like the idea of bringing manaburn back. I would definately go with the control flare though.

You're right, it is more control than it is Aggro; I'll change that. Day of Judgment is a really good suggestion, especially if end up throwing Avacyn in there. I really appreciate the feedback! :)

Or activate the Legion's Initiative . Almost forgot about that one!

you technically aren't bringing mana burn back, that only applied to mana left over in your mana pool that was unused, not whenever anyone tapped a land

no "mana burn" was an actual rule though that was different. besides this mana isn't burning you, it's barbs. It probably pricks you or stabs you.

Yes. It doesn't have the same connotation to call it "Mana Prick" though...although it would put a different spin on the flavor of the deck..

Yeah, I understand mana burn was totally different and this isn't it at all. It was just a spin off for the name. All decks need catchy interesting names!

The reprint of Battlefield Forge will definitely allow me to easily add it into the deck now :)

This looks pretty fun. What about Eidolon of the Great Revel ?

Oh, yes! That guy would work very nicely! I haven't updated this in awhile, and totally forgot to look at the JOU cards for this deck. Thanks for the suggestion, casey! :D

Maybe consider War's Toll . Combo-ing that with Manabarbs can be ridiculously mean if they don't want to waste their life.

Hmm.. I'll have to think on the War's Toll ; I want the opponent's to tap their mana to damage them, but the control aspect of forcing them to tap all their mana or lose the ability to seems pretty awesome. Thanks for the suggestion, Lisforlucifer!
And thanks for the compliment and +1, Tacoyeti33! :)

Awesome deck!! +1
You might wanna add Purity , Mana Barbs triggers it so tapping lands gives you life instead :L

@usohatchi: Purity would be a really interesting variant, but I think it would be too slow; it's double the CMC of Personal Sanctuary , granted it's effect its doubly better, and I want to stop the bleeding early. If I have both in the deck, then Personal Sanctuary would cancel out the Manabarbs + Purity combo. I'll think about it though, but I don't know if I'm feeling it.. Thanks for the comment, though!

Hey, glad to see my suggestion worked out prior. Looking a bit more (this looks like fun, and it's funny), any reason you would have a 2/2 split of Ghostly Prison and Sphere of Safety ? Seems like Ghostly Prison would be a better option, since you really need to slow them down early. Also, Blood Moon seems like it might be a decent piece of sideboard tech. Still looks fun though!

Oh, and Oppressive Rays could also be good for some laughs in there as well. Well, laughs on your part, perhaps not so much your opponent haha. Though I would laugh if I was playing against this deck.

I have the 2 Spheres in there to completely lock out the opponent if things go late; since the combo is pretty much all enchantments, it's easy to have more than 2 enchantments (the feeling of having a Ghostly Prison out), especially with your prior suggestion of the Eidolon. :) But I see what you are saying.. Maybe it should be a 3-1 split?
Also, Blood Moon would probably be a good sideboard option; however, I don't know if I would prefer that to Burning Earth .
As for Oppressive Rays , I will definitely consider it. It would fit the theme more than a Pithing Needle would; it's unfortunate I cant target walkers with it though. :( Thanks again for your suggestions, casey!

Hey, I would love to know what cards you'd include in the deck if you weren't trying to stick to modern! I'm trying to make a non-modern casual multiplayer deck out of this, I added 4x Power Surge, but have no idea what else to add and take out. Any ideas?

If you were going for a casual version of this deck, I think Sulfuric Vortex
would be a must :)
Glad I could help with some inspiration!

I've considered cards like Dictate and Furnace of Rath, but I don't what I would replace for them. I like Gisela, Blade of Goldnight to fulfill that role, honestly. Just because she's awesome. ;)

Yay for Manabarbs! I play a similar deck (though creatureless and, I have to say, a bit more of a friend-loser then this one) and you should definitely put in Idyllic Tutor and Blood Moon. The Tutor gets Manabarbs if you have an Personal Sanctuary and vice versa. The Blood Moon fits the enchantment theme (I'm surprised that that's not one of your hubs) and helps you since you have almost no basics.

What about Pyrohemia as a manasink. Always use it on your turn, and you won't take damage. It does affect your creatures, so you may have to play around it, but even if it clears the board you should have the advantage being the only one who can build up the board again without taking damage.
Speaking of, a couple of wipers like Day of Judgment may help as well.
I know you say it's an aggro deck, but your only one-drop is a counterspell attached to a permanent and your only two-drop is an enchantment. Of your three-drops you got only 4 creatures that can attack, where two of them wants to hang back and survive to transform. You got more protective enchantments than you got attackers in the three CMC slot.
Your deck is a control-burn deck, my friend :)
