Yeah, Purity was suggested before. The 6CMC just scares me; I mean, I could run it in addition to Personal Sanctuary, but it seems really slow. However, since it's the second time it has been suggested, I'll start considering it! Thanks, magnusactor!

I took a little bit less of a budget spin on the deck, I think it could do quite well Personal Sanc

If I have both in the deck, then Personal Sanctuary would cancel out the Manabarbs + Purity combo.
For what it's worth, that is not correct. In the case above, you get to choose the replacement effect goes off (and then the other becomes redundant as that damage is then prevented). So get out the santuary early and then throw down Purity later if you need to. I'd probably only stick one of in there myself.

@Becarri, in a 1v1 situation, I feel the deck becomes a little more aggressive. The werewolves have more chances of becoming flipped with less people in play, and with the right starting hand / draws, the mana curve flows well into a good protective board state. However, that is all speculation as I haven't had a chance to try out the deck very much. :(

@Eiyros: I remember that guy was mentioned before, but I forgot to put him in the maybeboard. Thanks for the reminder; he might be an interesting fit, although susceptible to removal it looks like. I'll keep him in consideration. Thanks! :)

No problem. At the very least you could sideboard him for scapeshift

So if I wanted to use this deck in a modern tournament, how many blood moons should I have and what should I replace them with?

@Dorpig: I would recommend running a playset. People will probably have some answer for it due to Skred Red gaining popularity. Luckily for us, Blood Moon is a really good card on its own that gains extra synergy being in an enchantment based deck like this. I would probably replace the Giselas and Balefire Lieges with them, and maybe throw a single Gisela into the sideboard.
This is all speculation, by the way. I wish I had more opportunities and funding to try out different changes in the brew, but if you give it a try, I would love to hear your results! :)

I'll probably get to use the deck after christmas but I think since so many higher up decks all use nonbasic lands as their primary source of mana, Blood Moon would be really good just to screw them over. If you have it in your opening hand it's game over. ;D

Some people suggested War's Toll but I don't think it's very good in here. If you have any Prisons out, your opponent can literally just choose that their creatures are unable to attack, so only the first effect does anything at all, and it's not much.

Oh my Myojin! This deck is hillarious! What a concept! I am so envious that I didn't come up with this first. You're my kind of fish, dude!

Run 4 path and maybe a few bolt mainboard in place of some useless enchantments, you have too many that don't do enough. Also, maybe instead of running that weird enchantment personal sanctuary maybe convert your creature base to a soul sisters build. I'd definitely run at least 3 blood moons though those are expensive

Personal Sanctuary is key to the deck. It doesn't function without it. It also is a prison deck, which wants enchantments.
If any enchantments can go, it's Legion's Initiative, but it should be replaced with other enchantments.
January 18, 2017 3:45 p.m.
That's why I suggested to run a soul sisters style of creature base, so you can be faster and remove the sanctuary. You have no mainboard removal as well, trust me that's a bad idea
January 18, 2017 9:24 p.m.
Eiyros I am not the creator of this deck, but it seems pretty clear to me that it's a prison deck that happens to use creature combat as its win condition, not an aggro-tempo deck that has Personal Sanctuary for no reason. A Soul Sister base is a perfectly valid choice for a deck, but IMO it completely defeats the point of this deck.
Basically, you're suggesting an entirely different deck, not an improvement to this one.

I'm happy that the idea has sparked up some conversation! Not being a very competitive player myself, the basis of this deck was for casual multiplayer matches.
I just wanted to try it out in a modern 1v1 tournament for funsies. To be more effective for tournament play, I can see what you guys are saying. It could be a more effective control deck by playing more mainboard removal or could be more of an aggro deck by focusing on burn spells.
Also, the Legion's Initiative was just a cheap costing enchantment that protects the field from removal or wipes. Other than that, the card has no real purpose besides adding another enchantment. It could definitely be a cut for something else.. maybe something like Mark of Asylum? I know that doesn't protect against destroy cards like Abrupt Decay and such, but could work against decks running bolts. Depends on the meta, I suppose. :)

I use a deck similar to this and its absolutely brutal. People will take damage every time they exist. They will hate you for it, so multiplayer tends to put a massive planet sized target on youManabarbsPersonal SanctuaryEnlightened Tutor just to be safe

I've ran Manabarbs before in a deck but I also paired it up with Purity Which allows you to tap your lands all you want and gain life as opposed to losing it. It may be something you'd like to look into.
