From what I saw of the PT, this looks like a solid build. I'm a little apprehensive about Stormbreath given the land count, but that would just need testing. Also, what would you bring in guttersnipe against?

@Spootyone thanks. The snipe would come in against creature heavy decks that I can't get my creatures through or anything that would keep me from attacking. In that case I would bring the creature count down by bringing in mugging and hopefully burning them to death. Or just bring in mugging to get through big blockers. It's all still in the works right now but it seems to work.

Alright that makes sense. I can probably do this deck in a Showdown at some point. Though it can't be the very next one unfortunately. I think what I will start doing is choosing one suggestion from the pool of comments in the previous weeks article, so make sure to keep an eye out for it and comment on there suggesting this deck :)

Nice deck +100 from me. Don't think there is much to say about... But could you possibly look at my deck and give any suggestions to me?

You know the shrine is legendary right? Running 4 seems like a bad decisikn in my opinion.

I agree with Dragonfish. Go with two Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx , and replace the other two with a Burning-Tree Emissary and a Boros Reckoner /Ash Zealot .

The shrines are essential draws and key to the deck. While having more than one in hand may suck the probability of drawing one goes down substantially if one is removed. It is key because it allows ramping into multiple creatures at once which helps gat damage through from purphoros and the fanatic.

Well if you have one in hand and one on field, you don't want to draw into one when you need a bomb likefanatic. I would take at least one out so you don't get just a bunch of dead draws. A dead draw can be as deadly as not getting a shrine. Another thing I would make purphoros for a fourth fanatic. Fanatic is more of s bomb and again having to many legendary things can cause a lot of dead draws. How long have you played this deck? I'm surprised you haven't ran into this problem already.

@Dragonfish17I have played the deck at 2 fnm tournaments and 3-4 fnm casual setting type tournaments. I have drawn into an extra shrine but as for Purphoros, he always seems to come out at the perfect time. If you are interested to see how it plays, check out Spootyone's play test on showdown #9

How does this actually do in the current meta? Isnt it full of tempo plays (Wall of Frost ) and super cheap removal (Doom Blade )

November 29, 2013 2:21 p.m.

boston89 says... #12

@ChiefBellHaven't run into wall of frost yet but the cheap kills are a problem. The good thing is that the tempo of this deck can make up for a killed of creature with no problem thanks to the shrine and the likes of burning-tree

I just have to ask. Why don't you run any Skullcrack in the sideboard? It's an amazing card against decks with lifelink or control (Sphinx).

your deck looks really solid, though i think you could benefit from taking out Wild Guess and making a complete set of Magma Jet , since that can control what you draw and maybe adding a second Mizzium Mortars or fourth Ash Zealot

I would take out the Rakdos Cackler because of Soldier of the Pantheon.Maybe put in a legion loyalist or dynacharge instead

2 suggestions. For one, try Legion Loyalist in place of the Rakdos Cackler . It makes Purphoros even better, and is just overall a better card to draw into. My other suggestion would be to run Awaken the Ancient over Rubblebelt Raiders . The haste, bigger body, and equal devotion just makes more sense. Can you do me a favor and check my deck out? Thanks :) Dimir Devotion

2 Temple of Triumph adds more scry which is always helpful.

@Bradmanthegreat tap lands will only slow this deck down, which is counter productive.

I agree with all the suggestions, rakdos cackler for legion loyalist, wild guess for magma jet, personally i'm against animating lands...don't like the idea of if you kill my creature I lose a land too...that's just me though.

Maybe 4x Boros Reckoner ? Those hit hard with devotion and just scary.
