I have played with a few variations of this deck, it started as Jund Monsters, then morphed into Jund midrange and is now sort of an odd hybrid of mid-range and removal, baddy aggro beaters, and mean fatty's. I really like Brad Nelson's term he used during the Pro Tour Khan's of "MAC", I am not sure if he coined it, but for subtype I am calling this Jund MAC. I just placed 2nd at my FNM with it, I have played with the constellation deck in the format, and I think this deck would do well against it also, especially with the addition of Polis Crusher. I have also given some serious thought to putting Herald of Torment in the deck.
UPDATED! :
After further consideration I really like all the suggestions that have been made, so far the plan is to take out Polis Crusher from the board, and add in 2 Stain the Mind's, I think I will also include Herald of Torment.
Some folks have asked about the inclusion of the Fanatic over the Boon Satyr, unfortunately, while I like that card, it is extremely weak in the hind quarters, it dies to a lot of removal, and bestowing it would just suck up mana I need to keep open for kill spells, and for the Death Dealers. Any suggestions and comments are appreciated! =)
HOW TO PLAY THIS DECK: For your first game with this deck, you are probably going to want to just play it straight aggressive. This will mean keeping a hand with a mana dork like the Elvish Mystic, preferably some Heir of the Wild's, and Rakshasa Deathdealers. Keep in mind you want to have the mana open to use the Death Dealer's abilities, but to also keep the options open for kill spells when you need to. Sometimes you will just need to fetch on your turn, but remember that fetching on your opponents end step can sometimes be a better play, it interrupts their turn for you to shuffle your deck, this could also be used to your advantage in certain situations. Kill your threats with the downfalls and cut's which is pretty self explanatory, Thoughtseize turn 1 if you can, but the Thoughtseize's become extremely effective when you want to know what they may have if they are sitting back with mana open, so you might want to just hold onto it, if you get one in the opening draw. Doing this will keep pace with your opponents and allow you to progressively play your bigger meaner things like Stormbreath Dragon and Polukranos World Eater]], and the whip comes in extremely handy if they cut down your Dragons and Hydras, often should be the case that you can whip in a dragon or a creature and swing for lethal. Finally and this is important, you CANNOT be afraid to lose life with this deck, remember that magic life totals are not your precious life, I have gone to 7, a few of that damage self inflicted, if you are patient and trust the deck, you will be just fine.-Nate MoranUniversal Comics, Freedom Gaming: Support your local card shops!!!
