Reaper of the Wilds is my fallback, should i decide the phoenix isn't working out. But i don't see that happening.

@SasukeUchiha. He won't always come down the way you'd prefer him to, but he's always gonna be hyper aggressive, and in a deck with lots of other aggressive creatures he'll win games. One thing i'd love to do with the phoenix is to play him, my opponent lets him come in as a 5/5 because he has a deck heavy with removal, next turn i follow him up with xenagos, and fling a 10/10 at him. I think the trick with tribute cards is that you shouldn't care what form they come down as, if you are hoping for one particular side to show it's face, chances are it won't.

That is exactly my problem with them. I think they are basically a card that allows control players to even better control their opponent. They are just decent cards against other decks, that have some good abilities, but are also not reliable. They are great for early game, but late game I would rather have guaranteed haste on Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch than hoping I will get what I need from the phoenix. I do really like the deck though, I just really have a problem with almost every Tribute creature.

I've decided to scrap Boon Satyr for Mizzium Mortars . More often than not he is going to trade with something, might as well just mortar them for one less, or blow the field late game.

Also decided to try and get a garruk for my sideboard.

maybe Temple of Malady instead of Golgari Guildgate ?

@NicolBolasFTW I'm in the works of totally redoing this deck. Making it much faster paced, so scry lands or guildgates will no longer be viable.

Yea I can see that, her synergy with Fanatic of Xenagos is just pretty awesome though, no matter what you get a 4/4 with haste. And any other counter creatures.

With Prophetic Flamespeaker , do you think more combat tricks would be beneficial? Madcap Skills and Titan's Strength are both cheap and ensure that he will be drawing cards.

Madcap Skills and other combat tricks would have great synergy with Prophetic Flamespeaker ...but they lack the synergy bloodrush guys have with Domri Rade and then there's the fact that combat tricks pulled off the top by the flamespeaker after combat is finished, aren't useful.

I really like the deatouch boost with Wasteland Viper and the huge boost to power and toughness Ghor-Clan Rampager does for the card and the deck.

Against low cmc / aggro... Drown in Sorrow . Yes it hurts you too, but then you know not to over extend and bring in Scavenging Ooze as a finisher.

I thinkExava, Rakdos Blood Witch would be a great curve-topper. Scavenging Ooze , Rakdos Cackler , and maybe even Scavenging Ooze can benefit from her ability, and a 4/4 haste first striker is nothing to be sneezed at either.

How on earth do you hope to hit 6 mana for the Garruk, Caller of Beasts in the side. I think that spot could be put to much better use.

The same principal applies for Mistcutter Hydra . Your never going to be hitting this guy for for then 3. I feel like Skylasher servers the same purpose at a more cost effective level.

Also is the black splash really worth it? With 4 mana confluence your going to do A LOT of damage to yourself. Not just like 3-4 but like 8-10. The only main deck card you have is Abrupt Decay and that could easily be replaced by something like Flesh / Blood .

But in most games do you find your sled consistently hitting 6 mana on curve or close to it?

Yes, especially if i can a hit in with Prophetic Flamespeaker . Most of the time I have far more mana than I need.
