I just built my own version of this deck:

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/01-07-20-count-on-me/

Considering things like Cathars' to leverage the token producers. I recommend more sac outlets to take advantage of Reyhan's ability and your doublers on demand or in response to exile. Adding Phyrexian Tower upon Jumpstart reprint, myself.

From someone who had a Atraxa +1/+1 proliferate deck and converted it to a bant +1/+1 counter/ proliferate deck Abzan Falconer is not worth the card if you are trying to give your creatures flying Levitation is better by a long shot creatures get removed more often.

The funniest fog ever and works great in your deck and is still a creature Selfless Squire

For trample it would be better to go with old school Primal Rage or the newer Garruk's Uprising which also gives draw on 4power creatures and above

Hey man, look at you still going strong with Ishai & Reyhan! You even surpassed me on the charts, I cheer to that.

This whole epidemic put dust on my cards; outside of the local game store there is just no-one to easily play with. But as new cards have been printed, apart from that walking dead bullshit, my interest has spiked on mtg again after playing some with the Otrimi, the Ever-Playful precon.

Now i've always wondered; Is Retribution of the Ancients worth it? The card feels similar to Vorel of the Hull Clade in where it's quite sub-par in action since its just a combo piece that needs setup and a turn, but somehow, people shit rainbows in their pants and spill their removal on this rather than on something i don't want removed... So Vorel once again made an entrance to the deck. For just a , Retribution of the Ancients sure looks tasty also.

I also like that cute little constrictor you have over there, the Hagra Constrictor.

Good day there friend. Been a while. First let me apologize for taking so long to reply. It's just been non stop for me.

Thank you. Reyhan and Ishai is my go to deck. So much fun with it and I'm always changing it up it seems.

I'm the opposite. This pandemic/lock down had me brewing up several new decks, tinkeringnwith others and giving me time to get my trades together for my playgroup.

Otrimi is fun. Haven't done anything with him but did think about trying out some form of Infect with him.

Don't get me started on that Walking Dead bullshit. I have nothing good to say about that.

I've flipped back and forth many times with Retribution and now I'm thinking I rather like it. In my games I can amass a huge collection of counters but do nothing withb hem but make my creatures big. Wanted to find ways to use those counters for something. Now I have.

I've added some bait cards to draw out my opponents removal hopefully. Maybe let some of my other stuff stick around.

Saw that did you. Yeah another value card for creatures with counters to benefit from.

Now I keep going back and forth on the Iridescent Hornbeetle. Lol

I'm unsure for what combo you use Time Stop, but perhaps Discontinuity is better? The is painful though

AkaAkuma

There is no combo in this deck with Time Stop. It's just in the deck as a way to interact.

Man, Basri's Lieutenant, try him!

I accidentally had an infinite with him, Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest and a sac outlet, and then again with Good-Fortune Unicorn . The dumb thing does not even say non-token.

Ow yea, and then there is his uncalled for pseudo evasion/protection for multicolour...

Also, how often do you use Retribution of the Ancients? I'm always happy to drop it, but then I never seem to be able to use it for some reason.

I will certainly try Basri's Lieutenant. Seems good, surprised he doesn't specify "non token". That comes across as a design flaw.

I don't use Retribution of the Ancients nearly enough to keep it. I think I used to go back and forth on that card frequently but now its just something I've cut.

I like this.

Felisa, Fang of Silverquill can offer you some insurance against boardwipes, or removal in general.

Sorry to mess with your math. Hardened Scales, Pir and Winding Constrictor don't add to counters that come with ETB, only counters being added to something already on the battlefield.

Reyhan enters with 3 counters. Not enters and then add 3.

AkaAkuma says... #12

Fuzzy003 offcourse it would since its a replacement effect! Otherwise doubling season with planeswalker strategies couldn't have been so busted.

Am I wrong, or does that make an unblocked Reyhan, Last of the Abzan + Blade of Selves essentially a 1HKO? Assuming you stack all the counters on the original, surviving Reyhan, and it doesn't get removed, etc.?

AkaAkuma says... #14

Dylls in a 4 man game you're correct! Something like Phyrexian Devourer could do the trick too.

I'll try him out see how he performs. Thank you for placing the spot light on him. I'd kinda forgotten about him.

Long time no see my friend. How have you been?

Well that's a card. I strongly feel the need to make a spot for him/her and change my mana base to maybe include more basic lands.

I've been well, just not much into magic lately ☹️. Maybe with the release of the new edh sets.. I just wished they kept diceroll gimmicks and d&d out of magic.

How are you doing?

AkaAkuma

I hear you. I wasn't excited myself with the additional of dice roll and DnD.

Magic doesn't need to bring in elements from other games. There are plenty of fresh and original ideas waiting to be discovered and old ones to be brought back.

Myself I'm doing well. Haven't gotten out much to play magic as of late. Now with work getting busy that typically means frequent Saturday OT shifts.

In several months I'll be on holidays enjoying an Alaskan cruise so Hooray for that.

Was trying to do the math with Blade of Selves, and now I'm thinking about putting it in my deck because just thinking about it just makes counters go off. I don't have my deck currently on tappedout but I just put it together. Mine was Ishai and Ikra but with lifegain. To Ikra out and rebuilt it with Reyhan and counters in mind. Synergy way up! But you get my upvote for Blade of Selves!

I love the idea of adding Blade of Selves and Rite of Replication to Ishai and Reyhan! That's awesome :)

From my experience with this commander pair, having easy access to sacrifice effects is very powerful. Getting to decide on when counters go where is just very useful, and if this happens when a doubling season-like effect is out, thing become somewhat insane. Greater good is probably the strongest card in this vein, so if you wanna take this idea for a spin, that's where I'd start.

Here's my own Ishai and Reyhan deck, if you'd like to see some more ideas. It's less polished than this version, but still :)

Over all, card draw and mana generation based on creature power is very strong for a deck like this. On the mana front, Selvala, Heart of the Wilds, is probably the strongest card.

+1 awesome ideas and deck.

I recently made a Reyhan Yoshimaru +1/+1 Counters matters deck. A large part of our cards overlap as they're the key cards for the theme.

Here's my deck so we can trade ideas!

I see you're running Carrion Feeder, you may be keen to also consider a Bloodflow Connoisseur as another sacrifice outlet to make full use of Reyhan's ability.
