Maybe this is a stupid question, but, in the current format, do you ever get a turn where nobody casts a spell?

Nice deck. Have you thought of putting in Impact Tremors from all the wolf tokens entering the battlefield? They'd be dead before you even attack.

Murphy77,
It's actually a really good question ... with the Zada-Silverfur combo, you rarely get to flip, so you really have to pick Werewolves based on their front face only.

TylerBrownell97,
Your deck is actually much slower than mine lol.

If you'd like to go faster, the key is some mana acceleration. Beastcaller Savant and Deathcap Cultivator both work, but Cryptolith Rite is even faster. You could also lower your average CMC and add more Haste if you want to go faster ... Ember-Eye Wolf and Lightning Berserker are good options that offer late-game value as well.

Unless I'm missing something, you don't have any discard outlets, and if you can't cast for the Madness cost, Avacyn's Judgment is pretty meh. You might consider Rolling Thunder or Exquisite Firecraft instead.

By the way, you might want to drop by this thread sometime: All things Wolven; it's a fun community.

Good luck (and good skill) on your build!

TylerBrownell97 Awesome deck man. I run with 4x Game Trail and 10 Mountains and 8 Forests. I'm going to try out your spell roster so I can make way for mana and creature cards.

+1!

When I heard this deck was faster than clayperce deck I had to see it, It looks like it takes too long to set up tho with high command cost and no ramp.

AndyReveler,
You might check out RUG Wolves by addaff. It's crazy fast ...

clayperce, I think I might sub in the Ember-Eye Wolf for the Duskwatch Recruiter  Flip. I had not thought about the Ember-Eye Wolf when building the deck. As far as mana ramping, I don't think this deck has a problem with getting enough mana to play spells. I usually have enough mana and spells to play each turn, and by like turn 5 or 6 is when this deck should and will win just by over running my opponent with creatures and combat tricks. I appreciate all of your guys suggestions. Best of luck to everyone.

also the Avacyn's Judgment is in their to do a small board wipe if needed, or to produce some tokens by targeting two or one of your creatures when you have Silverfur Partisan on your board, or to ping your opponent for their last few life points, and can also be sideboarded out for anything on the sideboard to help against flying creatures or with those pesky enchantments that will slow you down.

People tend to forget that Ember-Eye Wolf is like a Lightning Beserker later in the game, you can boost him as often as you want each turn.

TylerBrownell97,
I agree, this deck doesn't need ramp in the traditional sense. But something like Cryptolith Rite is the only way to get a T4 win in a deck like this. For example ...

T1: Village Messenger  Flip
T2: Cryptolith Rite
T3: 2x Village Messenger  Flip ... Silverfur Partisan ... Expedite ... Dual Shot
T4: Zada + 7 Creatures available to tap for mana + 3 cards in hand = all kinds of shenanigans

That would be the ideal topdeck draw right there.

snarlmkiv,
Yeah, I know there's like a 1 in a gazillion chance of it working out that well! :-D
Just trying to make the point that mana acceleration in a deck like this isn't about ramping up to a big beater, it's about going as fast as humanly possible ...

Yeah i know what you mean. When I played my deck, i learned two things: You have to maintain aggro to maintain your ramp. I'm not talking about ramping for a beatdown, but more on ramping towards a mid to late game transition with a controlled board - i"m talking about the presence of silverfurs, zada, and a few wolves/werewolves... I've gone head to head against white weenie and bant company on casual play and as Long as I can hold out till 3 to 4 land drops, the game's going to turn in my favor as it draws out...

I run a similar deck except I run Slip Through Space and Might of the Masses

Murphy77 says... #15

Wow! never thought of that - 5 creatures + Slip Through Space on Zada, Hedron Grinder gives unblockable + 5 free draws. Insane

Ive given it some thought and i think you're right with Cryptolith Rite... Speed is an issue with our decks and i think that card allows us to secure mana from our creatures...

I will probably replace Howlpack Resurgence for Cryptolith...

Tapping your creatures for mana also leaves u open for attack.

April 24, 2016 5:24 p.m.

Murphy77 says... #18

Don't forget that Zada + Vines of Recluse untaps everything again. Tapping for Cryptolith Rite gives that mana which is needed to cast multiple spells in a turn.

I was hoping to see some kind of infinite combo with heaps of Wolf tokens + Cryptolith Rite + Vines of the Recluse followed by a cheesy red X damage spell ;)

April 24, 2016 7 p.m.

Hey deltacobra, you mentioning the Slip Through Space got me to thinking, and that would be so funny to drop that on someone. So I adjusted my deck and now the are in there. let me know what you think.

TylerBrownell97,
Is there any room in your sideboard for a couple Dispel (for CoCo) and Display of Dominance (for Control)?

April 25, 2016 4:10 a.m.

clayperce, I'm sure I can add the Dispel or Display of Dominance into the sideboard as I have 3 card spots open

Ok guys I like the deck idea. Tbh I think you should run Duskwatch for the search. Much better than a Den Protector. Oh and Tyler I believe you forgot to factor in lands with the T4 win scheme. I calculate that you'll have 1 card in hand going into T4 and you need to pray to the dark lord that you'll draw Zada. I think that if you switched timing on the expedite+ dual shot then it would be better.

For example

T1 Game Trail, Village Messenger  Flip

T2 Mountain/Game Trail, Cryptolith Rite

T3 Mountain, Silverfur Partisan

T4 Zada, Hedron Grinder Tap your silver fur allowin for Dual Shot. Target silver fur.

Have token made then target zada with Expedite allowing him and token to tap for mana.

Hope to draw into another Expedite/cantrip.

3 cards in hand.

Draw into another Expedite/cantrip cast on zada.

If slip was used then you have no tokens able to be used if Expedite then 2tokens are up and you have 7 cards in your hand lol.
