[RGW] Naya Feather Defenders

Standard Midrange RGW (Naya)

usurphling

Sideboard

This deck is originally for emphasis of abusing Erratic Cyclops but I ended up collaborating with Feather decks since I'm using erratic cyclops to double my buffs. Erratic Cyclops is such a big defender; but wait, it can be bigger in an instant thanks to its triggers. Since I have Feather the Redeemed, I can buff my units over and over again. Also, you will notice that all of my creatures have higher toughness than power thus the saying, "The best offense is defense."

The selected buffs:

  • Defiant Strike and Gods Willing are the bread and butter of any Feather decks. It protects your creatures as well as card advantage in a non-blue based deck.

  • Assure / Assemble is another way to protect your creatures. The extra dudes from it will also make our Erratic Cyclops a 6/8 trampling creature.

  • Collision / Colossus is a buff that instantly makes our creatures bigger as well as hitting most flying creatures in the current meta like Brazen Borrower, Fae of Wishes, Dream Trawler if not protected well, etc.

  • Bounty of Might is your fancy end game finisher. If its placed on Erratic Cyclops, it becomes a 15/17 trampling creature.

  • Response / Resurgence is your early game removal as well as giving you an another combat phase. Imagine erratic cyclops becomes a 5/8 and swings to 10 in a turn.

The selected creatures:

  • Feather, the Redeemed and Aurelia, Exemplar of Justice are the co-supporters of Erratic Cyclops to make this unique deck possible. Just like any Feather decks, it provides you unlimited buffs when if survives.

  • Paradise Druid over Incubation Druid - while incubation druid is cute with assure // assemble, he is so vulnerable with aggressive decks like mono red, UBx decks because they usually want to get rid of it early. On the other hand, paradise druid gives you a temporary protection to cast your four drop spells on turn 3 or just feather herself, leaving you a white mana to cast gods' willing when needed. At least you already have a four drop spell even they killed your paradise druid.

  • Cavalier of Dawn - i know Banishing Light is cheaper but having a Vindicate on a stick is better in a long run. Who cares for a 3/3 golem if your creatures can trample it over and it will be killed by...

  • Solar Blaze - since we're playing high toughness creatures, we will take advantage of this spell. Most of the offensive creatures in the current meta have higher power than toughness. Also, most of the time, they tend to flood out their creatures then you cast this and they will be surprised and the game becomes in your favor.

  • Huatli, the Sun's Heart - also since we're playing high toughness creatures, we will make our creatures stronger specially Erratic Cyclops. Imagine a Erratic Cyclops attacking with 8/8 and also gains 8 life.

  • Tectonic Giant - the newest addition in this deck to have either a card advantage late game or a free lightning bolt with your buffs!

The sideboards are geared to fight UWx decks as well as adventure decks. For grinding matchups, use your uncounterable creatures to fight against blue based decks. For attrition matchups, use your go wide spells like Outlaws Merriment, Arasta, the Endless Web and another copy of Tectonic Giant.

The deck is still under improvement as this standard season continues. Your comments, suggestions and constructive criticisms are always welcome.
