the mtgoldfish 34 rhinos deck inspired me to make a deck that is all about getting
Siege Rhino
's out every turn while still being budget friendly. The hardest part about this is getting the right mana since we are playing 4 colors but thanks to
Birds of Paradise
and
Sylvan Caryatid
, we can get away with running 2 strong colors in blue and green and only having to splash black and white.
Siege Rhino's:
Siege Rhino
- the namesake card, we want to be able to get 1 out every turn
Bring to Light
- casting this with 4 colors gets us a siege rhino from our deck or a spell that can copy a rhino.
Clutch of the Undercity
- can be transmuted for 3 mana to find siege rhino or used as a way to deal with any permanents your opponent controls such as creatures, enchantments, artifacts, planeswalkers and even lands!
Phantasmal Image
- comes into play as rhino or opponents creature. Note- play on caryatid and you dont have to worry about targetting due to hexproof.
Cackling Counterpart
- creates a copy of siege rhino and can be flashbacked!
Mirror Mockery
- very interesting card because if you place this on a siege rhino, everytime siege rhino attacks you get a drain 3 life trigger. or you could enchant an opponents creature to be able to block their attack with the mirror mockery clone.
Mana Base:
I know the mana base would be alot better with fetch lands but they are currently out of my budget range so I am trying to maximize what I can work with. I would like to keep the deck right around $100 in paper so any change suggestions for the mana base would be greatly appreciated!
Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated!
Playtesting Thoughts
After some playtesting, the deck performs really well in getting you the mana you need but where it seems to falter a little is continuing to draw more "power" cards. some games I play 2 maybe 3 siege rhinos then draw lands/mana producers for the next 5 turns.
Trying to determine if I want to take some of the siege rhino copies or mana producers out to put in some draw power... maybe a
Harmonize
since we produce so much mana?
Let me know if you have any thoughts on this, thanks!
