This deck is a competitively engineered gimmick, built in Mono-Red ({R}) fashion, with other splashed cards for technical abilities. This deck was meant to exploit Security Rhox, and rough up the competition- literally.

Theme

It's for your Protection

The point of this build is to explore the applicability of some really strange synergies alongside the titular card, Security Rhox. The main problem we run into is how fast can we realistically have this guy hit the field? I mean, we're talking about a format where people can be winning the game as early as turn two, let alone a deck like this that could be setting up the win on turn two instead. Between two to three separates the real decks from the tier two, so I digress- this build is meant to challenge my preconceived notions that I couldn't create a tier one modern list if I was trying. Here's to you guys!

Beatdown Policy

We're creating this deck in the spirit of some hired muscle, that is stepping in to protect your interests, and let's face it.. they're not handling things like civilized gentleman for very long. We're going to use some very large Rhinos to crush our opposition, and we're going to be doing so at an unfair pace.

Construction

For the most part I don't want to over-complicate my notes, because this deck has potential to be splashing colors for consistency or efficacy, and I simply won't be acknowledging that as I am going for as close to mono-colored, for simplicity sake.

On turn {1}:

• Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer is a quick way when we're on the play to generate that first piece of treasure going into our second turn. It's a staple of the format for a reason, and provides us with some cool synergy that telegraphs a much different deck.

• Goldhound is a simple way to still generate some power on turn {1} that translates in a few ways; it's holding up a blocker, the creature holds up the subtype of treasure itself, and on turn {2} it still follows suit to get our Security Rhox out as early as possible.

• Strike it Rich is our last card that is capable of generating that turn {1} treasure token that we so desperately desire, and albeit the worst of the three cards detailed here because you do not get to have a body to protect from incoming attackers.

On Turn {2}:

• Charming Scoundrel is an incredibly slept on card for such a concept because the utility beckons it's use beyond turn {2}. You get to immediately generate a treasure token, which can effectively help you cast Security Rhox. You could also use it to cycle a card in hand, and that's about all the use you need from a 2/2 body.. which does have haste to keep pressing damage through the opposition.

• Buried Treasure is another card that instantly will translate into casting Security Rhox and is kinda clunky in my opinion, because I do not ever want to be in a position where casting the {5} cost ability to Discover back into another Security Rhox is somehow.. my best option. But, I will keep it simple- this card is meant to see the field, sac itself, and turn out another Rhino. Got it? Good.

• Mimic is 'Buried Treasure is a real boy!'. Ibid the same kind of tactics, but this guy could be a body to protect you, as a last resort.

On Turn {3}:

• This is where I intend for the user to start casting Temur Battle Rage and Bulk Up, considering I don't have any real haste enablers for the Security Rhox. However, the additional mana generation should be just enough to help seal the game away on turn {3}.

• Slower games could see casting Seize the Spoils or something else like Strike it Rich on the third turn, which isn't really a bad thing if you're able to net two drawn cards. Who doesn't like to refill their hand? Besides, if we can bring out the whole squadron of Rhinos, it's going to be a nasty time for sure. Scoundrels in line can also help close out the game, and a few feral chimps when all the chips are down.

Discussion

I look forward to hearing some discourse about this deck because I don't think it's particularly strong as a concept, with a few moving parts. I don't think a proper heist-like, mob-inspired deck would be successful without the opportunity to sigh in happiness and relief saying.. ah, I love it when a plan comes together!

I'm going to be leaning back with the boys at the table as I smoke my pipe and giggle, looking at them scratching their heads. 'What do you mean this deck is like Crashing Footfalls?'..
