Rhys, bringer of armies

Commander / EDH*

SaltEfan

This is a Rhys the Redeemed deck featuring some new friends from the Selesnya guild. Newcomers: March of the Multitudes gives this deck a strong out in the lategame, often doubling your tokens for zero mana. Leaving Rhys to activate his second ability after this has resolved (best done by activating his ability and responding with this card) can flood the board with ridiculous presence, demanding a boardwipe to deal with it.

Emmara, Soul of the Accord helps you by giving you a strong token generator whenever she's tapped. We'll later see that tapping your creatures is a very easy thing to do in this deck. Whilst not as powerful as Rhys, she's a lot cheaper to activate.

Trostani Discordant allows for some interesting effects on the game while in play. Being an anthem for our army is always welcome. On its own, it provides three bodies which synergize well with the previous line. The last line on the card is rarely relevant, but when it is, it is very useful. Hosing cards like Rise of the Dark Realm, chaos cards like Confusion in the Ranks, and Zedruu the Greathearted very well.

Cameraderie is a good payoff for the deck. Sometimes a win-more, sometimes a card to help you catch up if you have three or more creatures on the battlefield. If you don't profit from casting this, you have bigger things to worry about.

Join Shields is another, worse Heroic Intervention and we play both to protect us from boardwipes.

Citywide Bust is techically a card associated with the Boros legion, it still fits very well with what we're trying to achieve by removing the biggest threats to us, namely big creatures that can somehow evade our defences. It also works as a (mostly) one-sided boardwipe.

Divine Vistation is another card associated with the Boros legion, but having Rhys call down an army of angels instead of elves is not something to take lightly.

This deck is capable of consistently winning turn 7-10 if uninterrupted quickly.
