Thanks very much RenlarZ88. Real talk, I really like all of those substitutions and suggestions you've thrown out there (Field of the Dead! of course!) and I'm going to do a bit of a deck re-work to fit some of these cards in. KevinLandonChanning, I'm going to add a couple of those protection spells - specifically Heroic Intervention & Flawless Maneuver.

Onto a few of the specific card mentions substitution choices:

  • Concordant Crossroads: I hear you on this card - I typically hate cards that give my opponents mutual advantage, but haste is such a key effect for this deck, particularly when you've got the possibility of infinite squirrels. With that in mind, you only slap this card down when you have a key swingy move e.g. squirrel swarm. Another haste friendly favourite is to pair alongside an entwined Tooth and Nail with Avenger of Zendikar + Craterhoof Behemoth to give all those suddenly giant plants haste. TLDR: play this card carefully and wisely!
  • Hornet Queen: OK fine. Enough people have commented on this one being too expensive and clunky and yeah, I have to concede and agree. It has won me games before by getting out swarms of doubled flying deathtouchers, but it's also sat in my hand for too long waiting for the mana required. Good call, it's up for the chop.
  • Champion of Lambholt: this is a good idea and a fun one in theory, but it really just becomes a 'kill on sight' card once people clue in to the unblockable swarm threat. I've had it in this deck for a long time now and it's never really worked out the way I want it to. Time to refine some choices & hone/streamline this deck to it's basic theme by removing some of the cute but conditional trickery like Champion here.
  • Pir's Whim: this is a bit of a pet card in here and sits alongside my suite of Gaea's Cradle tutor cards (e.g. Crop Rotation and Sylvan Scrying). I like the politics it enables in FFA matches, but I also play a lot of 2 headed giant 2v2 in my playgroup so the partner ramp is a sweet little bonus. The artifact/enchantment removal is strictly gravy. Saying all of that, 4 mana is a pricey ramp spell so I'm not married to keeping this card in here forever, defs up for chop consideration.
  • Lots to think about, significant deck update coming!

What a fun deck! I am looking to build this for my wife as a starter deck. Green/white tokens seems like an easy way for her to get ridiculous.

Thanks Forceofnature1! I bet she'll be an EDH fan for life after she accidentally creates and stomps with infinite squirrels, heh.
