Deck Study: Rice Snacks

Standard circa 2002: Invasion & Odyssey blocks + 7th edition

A contemporary of the infamous Psychatog, Rice Snacks provided a combo element to the meta that was otherwise nonexistent. Using quick mana ramp and the heavy draw power of Allied Strategies, the deck could accelerate into multiple Early Harvest to generate enough mana for a lethal single-shot Ghitu Fire or Death Grasp by turn 6 o 7, reliably, while keeping the board clear with Pernicious Deed. Some variations could achieve infinite mana and, of course damage.

The central weakness of Rice Snacks was it's complexity. While an alert player could reliably beat Tog along with the rest of the metagame, the sheer number of choices available left the deck vulnerable to player fatigue.
