Champion of Stray Souls really got me hooked up. Not because it's a powerful card (he's not comparable to a titan e.g.) but because he just wants to be built around. With Rescue from the Underworld I got another card that does a similar thing for for almost instant value.
First of all: This is a multiplayer deck for a non-combo environment. It's really good against Aggro (all your low cmc-guys like Yavimaya Elder and Viridian Emissary want to die anyways), Midrange (you can outvalue your opponents pretty hard, including land-screwing them with Acidic Slime and Entomber Exarch) and Control (removal from their side is pretty bad when they get 2-for-1ed the whole time).
The trick with this casual deck is to ramp with Arbor Elf and Utopia Sprawl (Nice combo there, before the opponent gets to destroy the land you get plenty of mana in most cases).
Viridian Emissary and Yavimaya Elder help you ramping and hitting your land drops.
The other cards all do stuff when they enter/leave the battlefield (Pelakka Wurm even does both), so they're nice to have anyways, but can just outright take control of the game when you get to untap with a Champion of Stray Souls. This guy himself can get fetched with Brutalizer Exarch just on curve (since the creature is put on top of the library you don't want to fetch a 7-drop when you don't have an additional land in your hand).
Thanks to green the deck works perfectly fine without any nonbasic lands.
I know that there're more powerful cards like Grave Titan, Primeval Titan and Avenger of Zendikar out there as well as Deathrite Shaman and Fetchlands, so don't recommend those.
I got this deck for 25 Euros (~35$), but since in America cards are generally cheaper you should be able to get the 25$ mentioned on the statistics here.
I'd appreciate a comment or a +1 if you like the deck! : )
