Gave you a +1 for the name. That being said, I came here expecting to see a deck that locks the opponent down with creatures such as Gideon's Lawkeeper and Avacynian Priest featuring Gideon's Avenger for the kill.

I agree with rock, it's solid but I did expect to see a lot of tap creatures. With that, I love angels so plus one for Av heading.

Haha, yeah I realise now that the deck name implies it is based around tapping opponent's creatures. It's so hard to think of witty deck names. But in all honesty I'd give Avacyn a go ;)

So why is Avacyn in here? She's an 8 drop FAR off the deck's curve that, frankly does nothing. The problem is even worse in Modern when there's a better legendary that actually works with your deck for less in Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite .

I dont follow how you get 23/23, I count it as a 5/5 first strike on turn four, although I could be missing something :). Armored Ascension instead of Ethereal Armor would make it a 7/7 non-first strike, with much more potential to get bigger later once since you have 23 plains and only 13 enchantments (and enchantments usually dont last as long as plains on the battlefield.

AEther Vial does go nice here, any suggestions on what I should replace for it? maybe -2 Bonds of Faith and add a couple of AEther Vial .

Well the main reason I'd say Avacyn is in here is because.. well she's hot. Yes she's an 8 drop however being a 1 off card, it is rare that I draw her. Honestly I hadn't ever heard of Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite , It's a pretty sick card, however I still think that Avacyn's ability is far more invaluable.

Trust me, Elesh Norn does far more for your deck when you cast her than Avacyn ever will. Elesh Norn can actually win you the game the turn she comes out while Avacyn cannot. That alone makes her better.

You honestly could drop all the angels and Titan for a set it would lower your curve and make the deck more officent.

Mentor of the Meek ? With you have plenty of creatures that qualify + the Thraben Doomsayer , not sure what to take out for him though.

I suppose card draw is good. I was thinking about taking Riders of Gavony out for something, but I was thinking something like Spare from Evil or Faith's Shield . I'll have to play test and see if Mentor of the Meek cuts it.

I would think an Angel's Grace (<-- saves my life more than I am willing to admit) or Iona, Shield of Emeria (<--handle monocolored decks with ease) might work. Maybe even a Luminarch Ascension just as a great turn 2 as you seem to have a solid defense.

4x Ethereal Armor on turn 4 is RIDICULOUS sounding... as in unattainable. Turn 4 you have 11 cards that could have, without added draw, and all 11 of those have to be EXACTLY what you describe. With the amount of removal and counter magic in modern as well.... that's too far fetched to even be considered. There is no way you can swing with that much power reliably within just white and 11 cards.


Avacyn is pretty hot though.

oh, just ignore Champion of the Parish on turn 1 then I guess. It is extremely unlikely and would be absolutely ridiculous in a game, but it is possible and would in my opinion be the ideal game.

In no way was I trying to give a reliable example, just a hectic game.

Nice build, did you not like Brave the Elements its really good if they somehow get there army built up cuz you grant protection and swing around them.

Also something I use in my weenies is Sigiled Paladin and Akrasan Squire ...they kill when they buff Champion of the Parish

this looks like a good deck, but I was looking for tap effects. I think Avacyn, Angel of Hope dosn't acctually belong in the deck :( . While it seems cool you'll almost always want to draw a Champion of the Parish over it due to the mana cost. the double strike theme seems to be in here, but I would expand it with Silverblade Paladin soulbond to your Champion of the Parish . Honor the Pure is definetly a great card for the deck, and I would consider other anthem effects too. Luminarch Ascension is a tad hard to pull off (taken from EDH experiance), but I would consider running it if you're willing to hold back you bombs for defence, that said I think it is more long term than I think you're looking for. Ethereal Armor is one of those cards you could run 10 of, but you of course run the risk of being 2-for-1ed with it on a bomb. Mentor of the Meek is a strong canitade for the deck, to soak up the extra mana from the low curve (if you cut some angels) while speeding up the deck with rare white card draw.

Yeah, I know what you mean about Avacyn, Angel of Hope not actually fitting. I could probably bring myself to drop her, Sun Titan , Angelic Overseer and maybe even Riders of Gavony to lower the curve. However with that, looking at adding Mentor of the Meek and Silverblade Paladin would mean that the 3 cmc spot is overwhelmed. To do that I'd need to drop some 3cmc cards and I don't really know what, perhaps Fiend Hunter , considering I still have Oblivion Ring in there.

I would really like to get some more Spirit Mantle and perhaps Brave the Elements over Faith's Shield . With lowering the curve and adding the mentor, it could be good to get my hands on some AEther Vial as well.
