Ghostly Flicker might also be a potent, versatile addition.

Yes, Forkbeard! Archaeomancer, Duplicant, Eternal Witness, Feldon of the Third Path, Gilded Drake and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker are all on on my wishlist as budget allows. Some top-tier suggestions.

I use Doubling Season and Primal Vigor in my Riku deck. And using Kiki Jiki, Mirror Breaker and you just overwhelm your opponent with some of the creatures you have in this deck.

Any EDH deck that runs Biovisionary automatically gets a +1 from me. Have you tried playing with See the Unwritten? That card is bonkers, especially in EDH.

In your description you mentioned that you stray away from counterspells but live Glen Elendra Archmage. Melira, Sylvok Outcast combos with her and provides a strong utility on her own.
Worth a try?

Shadows Over Innistrad
Pretty excited to add Second Harvest to the doubling arsenal. Pulled a Game Trail in my fatpack, so adding that too.
It took me a while Steaditup, but I finally added See the Unwritten. I agree, that'll be a strong performer in EDH. Extra excited to double it.
I appreciate the cool Glen Elendra Archmage + Melira, Sylvok Outcast combo SlapMyBuns, but I'm going to pass on it. I'd prefer to have a card more aligned to the overall theme than to add Melira just to combo with Glen Elendra. I get enough interactions with Glen Elendra through the flicker mechanics already built into the deck.
While I was at it, I added a Sower of Temptation and an Alchemist's Refuge for some spicy options.

With all that card draw, why don't you play with Reliquary Tower?
May 20, 2016 9:43 a.m.
Good catch Hipparchos! I typically include Reliquary Tower as a staple in all my commander decks but must have missed it here. Corrected now!

No worries! I've tested your deck on XMage several times, but i really missed that card though. ;)
What do you think about Altered Ego?

Hey Hipparchos, I think Altered Ego is great! A -cost clone that can't be countered, with an optional to make it bigger? And if you copy it with Riku, it'll copy the cost of ! Pretty solid addition, I've added it :)
I do run Genesis but I don't think all the Incarnations are worth it. Don't get me wrong, Anger and Wonder do good things, but it's always risky since I have no discard outlets and must rely on them dying... but my opponents will try to prevent that from happening. Besides their value in the graveyard, the Incarnations don't do much for the overall gameplan. There's no ETB trigger and no great benefit to copying them. Though he's not on strategy, I like Genesis a lot for the graveyard recursion of something important, but I'm typically hoping for Birthing Pod or Eldritch Evolution to get him there.

I'm happy you answered me, finally! ;-P
Indeed Altered Ego is a great card, but i've cut it for Dack's Duplicate in my deck. Also you misunderstand the ruling here. The copy comes into play w/o counters. If the creature had in its mana cost, must be . Note this is different from an found in the mana cost of a copied spell. For example when you cast Comet Storm, then the value of gets copied.
Maybe you want to swap Genesis for Loaming Shaman? It's an ETB effect and you have an answer to Mill decks.
September 4, 2016 6:20 a.m.
Oh snap, you're totally right Hipparchos! Indeed the copy rules are different between creature and spell . I'm already running Dack's Duplicate so I might just leave Altered Ego in as another clone option that cannot be countered.
Although, I need to make room for Panharmonicon when the new set comes out (doubles a creature's ETB trigger and doubles Riku's trigger to copy a non-token creature) so maybe Altered Ego will be the one to go.

This looks awesome, so, so awesome +1.I needed to find some cool cards that changed my riku game plan a little. Think i've found a few on here. Not gonna revamp my whole deck, but definitely there are at least 6-7 cards i could see myself adding from this list.
I have yet to see the table with all of doubling season, parallel lives and flameshadow conjuring (don't have primal vigor yet and haven't figured what to cut for panharmonicon yet), but it seems like the board would get pretty crazy lol

May i ask why there's no Worldly Tutor and/or Mystical Tutor?

Also, if Forkbeard is correct and this is more of a flicker riku deck than a copy riku deck(what i have) then it may be worth adding in Deadeye Navigator :)

Has anyone here considered playing Dual Nature in a riku deck?
The only downside i could see with it is while Progenitor Mimic's are in play. The opponent would just kill the original card and not target a token.
Thanks!

Amonkhet
Late to the Amonkhet party, but better late than never.
- Replaced Fated Infatuation with Vizier of Many Faces. While both create a copy of a creature, I can flicker or return the Vizier to my hand if needed.
- Replaced Zendikar Resurgent with Elemental Bond. ZR is just so expensive to cast and I've got plenty of other ramp. But the card draw was nice, so let's go with a cheaper version. EB also lets me draw a card for token creatures and things cheated into play.
- Replaced Temple of the False God with another Mountain.
Thanks for the compliment Jpegwun! I should probably add a Worldly Tutor, it just bums me out that I can't copy it ;)
Dual Nature is less appealing because it give my opponents more creatures and becomes an easier way for them to get rid of mine. When things are going well, I might have 2-3 or more of the same creature but Dual Nature lets me opponents remove all of them by getting rid of the original.
July 29, 2017 8:24 p.m.
Oh and about Deadeye Navigator, Jpegwun - I used to have a stronger flicker theme in the deck but slowly replaced most of them with more direct copy effects. Deadeye Navigator was just so expensive to cast, I found direct copy spells to be more cost-effective.

Yeahhhh, you can't copy the tutor lol oh well.
And great points about dual nature and deadeye; deadeye is simply a combo in my deck with palinchron, but I'm considering your reasoning and debating cutting it.
Thanks for the reply :)

Hour of Devestation
Mirage Mirror! Holy moly, what utility! It won't net me any ETB triggers (sadness) but I could copy Panharmonicon and get 3x the ETB triggers per creature. Or make an extra copy of Doubling Season, or duplicate any creature, including an opponent's. I took out Crystal Shard to make room for it. The shard was a neat idea but never really had the effect I hoped it would.
Also, I tossed in a Worldly Tutor, removing Prime Speaker Zegana. I liked Zegana's card draw effect, but it required me to have a decent board state already - so was a little "win more." Also, her Legendary status prevented me from truly abusing her in this deck. Be gone!

Any interest in Sundial of the Infinite? I noticed you have a couple of the red copiers that sac themselves at the end of turn on a trigger. Sundial gets around this, and would allow you to include additional versions such as Splinter Twin.
Naturally it opens up some other avenues such as the Pacts, albeit they aren't as thematic as you might be looking. Just a thought, and ultimately I love the deck!

Nice deck! I'm coming back around to Riku as I'm entering a new city and playgroups. I wanted something that could react to the board state and win in many different ways so that's Riku. Plus it's just fun for me to play. I like that you do not try to rely heavily on artifacts, I went that route too and prefer to see how many spells and creatures I can pack in, with some light reinforcement from enchantments and artifacts.

I like the flicker direction you've taken here, cool looking list. Here are a few suggestions that may spice things up a little:
Archaeomancer - With 24 instants + sorceries in the deck, this guy would be value town.
Duplicant - Get rid of all the dudes!
Eternal Witness - Further adventures in value town.
Feldon of the Third Path - Debatable choice, but with all of the ETB effects I suspect that repeated recursion would serve you well (Craterhoof Behemoth etc.)
Gilded Drake - No explanation necessary. Stellar card.
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker - Similar to Feldon, Kiki will stretch your ETB value over & over again.
Venser, Shaper Savant - Debatable seeing as you can't have two of him, but he'd be great alongside Conjurer's Closet.
