So I really wanted to make a cool Devotion to Golgari type deck. The god will be out when the next block rotates in and while it may or may not synergize with the deck, I'm sure Journey to Nyx will give this deck nice tools to work with.
So what do I want from this deck? I don't plan on making it super competitive. Just something neat to try out with giant Adephage + Whip of Erebos (I do give credit to Quail for coming up with the idea (Check his stuff out)) So I worked a controlish/devotion based deck that worked around this. Allowing there to be a healthy amount of win cons.
Lands: Pretty basic stuff. You've got Nykthos and Overgrown Tomb to do extra fixing. 2x Golgari Temples will totally go in this deck when the times.
Mutavault mimay be a cool option but running too much colorless mana in a deck like this seems a bit much.
Some big players:
Deathrite Shaman: My one-drop of choice in this deck. I plan on doing a lot of grave shenanigans. So this card seems like a no-brainer.
Lotleth Troll: The Big Guy. Very important to have if I draw into my giant adepage. That card does better for me in the graveyard than in my hand.
Gray Merchant of Asphodel: Its a devotion deck. These guys all around rock. Gather enough devotion and these can really go off. Plus no one is a stranger to Whip + Asphodel
Giant Adephage
: The combo. These guys will just keep going once started. They have haste and they keep making more and more. Try to throw these in the graveyard for some real fun.
Stuff I need help with:This deck is just an idea so more or less it could be better. For starters I'm really debating on whether or not to keep nightveil specter in. It doesn't do much for me except be devotion and that's boring... I'm thinking either pack rats or desecration demon might be cooler because rats give me more discard outlets and the demon is a solid control card. I'm also really curios on what other graveyard utility I could add. Scavenging ooze is an option but I'd love to see what other people have to say. A solid sac outlet would be cool. Please share ideas.
