Fateful hour -
The idea is to deliberately lower your health to 5 or below to utilize your card's fateful hour ability
Card list and uses:
Creatures
[Spellskite] great card for this deck as it protects yourself from being targted by burn spells and can also lower your health anytime you could summon it. One of the key components if you want to make use of fateful hour
[Gavony ironwright] Early defender for aggro creatures ( you would let them damage you anyway). Also lets you buff other creatures with a mighty +1/+4 aura making your creatures immune in most burn spells.
[Suture priest] Lets you gain life for every creature you summon and does the opposite for your opponent. This creature lets you keep your life from going too far below 5. Works great with [Phyrexian unlife].
[Melira, sylvok outcast] her only use is to prevent poison counters and that practically makes you invincible if used with [phyrexian unlife]. Just make sure you protect her at all cost.
[Birds of paradise] serves as a mana producer to accelerate your game. Also serves as a blocker for flyers once fateful hour is activated. Can also activate spellskite's ability if your life is 2 and below.
Sorcery
[Gather the townsfolk] Used to deploy tokens. Cast this spell only if your health is 5 or below for a much better result. It gives you 5 tokens instead of 2.
Instant
[Break of Day] Buffs all of your creatures with +1/+1 and with fateful hour, makes your creatures indestructible until end of turn. Great for saving your creatures from porky ones and destroy spells but not until fateful hour is activated.
[Faith's shield] Your life saver. Temporarily gives you and your creatures protection from a certain color until end of turn (fateful hour).
[Clinging mist] Not so effective but it's worth seeing your opponent's face when you use this to stop his creatures pumped with [overrun].
Enchantment
[Phyrexian Unlife] The very essence of this deck. With this card, you won't have to worry even if your life hits the 5 mark as it gives you an extra 10 life(poison counters). Works great with [suture priest] as it pulls your life back from the negative zone and [melira, sylvok outcast] as it prevents you from having poison counters. Immortality!
[Intangible Virtue] Gives your tokens +1/+1 and vigilance. A pretty good card for a deck that runs tokens as a primary creature for defending and damaging your opponent.
[Parallel lives] Doubles your token production. Imagine having this with your life 5 and you cast gather the townsfolk with buffs and all. You see the picture?
[Oblivion ring] - good for removal of anything besides lands. Very flexible
Artifact
[swiftfoot boots] Basically used to protect your creatures especially [melira, sylvok outcast]. Also used for [Thraben doomsayer] to immediately summon a token.
