Much like it's pricier variant this deck relies on our ability to swing for big numbers and get there by controlling the board state throughout the game and flying over top with variants of the prowess mechanic. In this build we swap out only a few cards to enable us to cut the price (This is always the first step in building a budget deck since non-basic lands get expensive fast.)

I the rest of the changes are fairly minor in scale although we lose a little bit of the card advantage but save a whole lot on price. This is instantly true with Mission Briefing , One of my favorite new cards but also one of the most expensive in my "Risky Wizards" template. This is due to its survival ability combined with the ability to pull a sorcery or instant from the graveyard back into your hand all at instant speed. The easy trade off for this is Card:Flood of Recollection. We get the main ability of Mission Briefing which is to get that card from the graveyard back into your hand so you can cast it and pump your attackers, but lose out on the speed and survival.

Next up is Ionize . Another new card I absolutely love, its basically a cancel that also shocks the player. How great is that? Since we dumped our non-basics dual color spells can be tricky and I felt that using something a little cheaper in manna would be better, hence Wizard's Retort . You don't have to stick with this option and I would not complain one bit if you you decided to run three Ionize instead, its a good card but at CMC I would rather pay CMC and play more spells per turn.

I don't have a sideboard for this deck right now and to be honest it will likely be removal and counters, because its a cheap and easy way to get the advantage over big to tier decks (don't let them move and don't let them cast big cards).
