This is my take on an aggressive-midrange tokens deck for Ravnica Allegiance standard. This deck can function as an aggressive swarm style deck that floods the board and tries to win quickly, but thanks to cards such as
Divine Visitation
and, to a lesser degree,
Rite of Belzenlok
is also capable of grinding through the mid-game.
Obvious all-stars here include
Adanto Vanguard
and
Legion Warboss
. We are all familiar with both of these cards by this point, and are more than familiar with the kind of resiliency and pressure that they are, respectively, able to apply to the board. Plan A is to simply swarm the board and win quickly. However, if we are unable to achieve this, the inclusion of
Divine Visitation
as a particularly sickening synergy with the token producing effects of these cards. Earlier iterations included
Conclave Tribunal
due to the synergies that convoke has with a token theme, but the presence of
Mortify
in the meta (esper decks are especially prevalent at my LGS) has caused me to replace it with
Vraska's Contempt
as my prime piece of catch-all removal, which is shored up by three copies of
Cast Down
. I had debated on whether I wanted to include
Cast Down
or
Moment of Craving
in this spot, but settled on
Cast Down
because I believe that it casts a wider net at my LGS than
Moment of Craving
, in spite of the stipulation.
The sideboard is geared primarily toward dealing with control and aggro matchups, as I think that the midrange matchup is reasonable enough in the mainboard configuration.
Duress
and
Dawn of Hope
come in against control decks, and the rest come in in various quantities against creature-based decks. While
Deafening Clarion
is a bit of a non-bo considering what my deck is doing, I believe that it serves as an important relief valve to help me stabilize against opposing aggro decks. While sweeping the board is less than ideal, the inclusion of cards such as
Hunted Witness
and
Doomed Dissenter
should hopefully make the board wipe a bit more one-sided.
As always, I welcome any and all feedback that I can receive. This is something that I had been toying around with after playing various control decks and the Guildgate deck for several weeks, and is probably far from optimal.
