what for? theres nothing that really needs to be ramped into, and the card isn't legal anyways.
July 28, 2013 8:51 p.m.
For casual though, dark ritual would be fun to drop obliterator turn 2. But as a more serious suggestion, I would consider a few Bojuka Bog , your going to want some kind of grave hate, and Deathrite Shaman wouldnt be bad in this deck either. maybe run Vivid Marsh so you can utilize all Deathrite Shaman s abilities

I have Surgical Extraction that with thoughtseize can potentially exile 16 cards alone. I don't want to add Bojuka bog because it enters the battlefield tapped. I had DS in here originally, took him out for things that focus more on the win condition. Besides Vampy Nighthawk does the same thing without having to use mana.

Hmmm, adding in stuff like Smallpox
and Life from the Loam
can both be rather lethal and the Loam will also help you gain back those fetchlands and reuse 'em.
Also works nice with Raven's Crime
and it's retrace effect, just sayin. c:

really trying to keep it mono black, the overgrown tombs are just kinda like why not for DS.
Smallpox would work here, I have to work this out better to fit stuff in. Problem, there is nothing I feel I should take any more copies out of.

Dakmor Salvage can be used as a reusable land as well. It's also much easier to get. c:

I'd recommend removing the single Misty Rainforest and putting in another Swamp . The forest only fetches your Overgrown Tomb but the other fetches get your swamps and your tombs. I also wouldn't recommend running more fetches than you have things to fetch for a modern format, which you are, and especially since you mainly run the fetches to thin the deck. You do not want to have dead fetches.

Actually, extra fetches to discard are a good thing with Raven's Crime . Truthfully the fetches are to feed Deathrite Shaman so I can have 3 mana T2 because there is very little reason I would ever need to actually fetch an Overgrown Tomb it's there to add another option in a situation that should never come up. Thinning the deck is just an added bonus.

You can still always discard a Swamp . You can't get mana out of a fetch, however, you can only seek a land out of a fetch.
I noticed you added Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth . I think that's a great addition, since you can use it to make your fetches swamps for when you need or want them for mana.

yea, but u can get mana out of the fetches with DS anyway, which was the main purpose.
T1 play Verdant Catacombs fetch Swamp play Deathrite Shaman T2 exile Verdant Catacombs with Deathrite Shaman and play another Swamp from hand for 3 mana.
Play another fetch on turn 2 to get your swamp instead, Phyrexian Obliterator turn 3.

This looks like a BG rock deck but it doesn't seem as good.
Considered trying to make this a proper rock deck?

Yes, but i still don't really get what makes a rock deck a rock deck.

Efficient threats, disruption, black card draw, removal.
http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/eventcoverage/wc13/ModernDecklists Eric Froehlich and Josh Utter-Leyton are playing BG Rock decks. They have access to card draw (Dark Confidant, Phyrexian Arena), Disruption ( Inquisition of Kozilek, Thoughtseize), efficient threats (Tarmogoyf, Thrun the Last Troll) and removal (Maelstrom Pulse, Abrupt Decay).
You can do budget versions of this or tweaked versions that are cheaper (cut out the Goyf for example for something else)
August 14, 2013 3:56 a.m.
I can't suggest running 2 Urborg. It is a dead draw if you hit a second. Replace with Twilight Mire
August 14, 2013 2:29 p.m.
APPLE01DOJ says... #24
what would u drop to make room for a maelstrom pulse.
would running 2 copies of Vraska do more harm than good? I can imagine how hard it would be to deal with reoccurring Vraska's -3 & Lilly's -2 I noticed that most of the Rock decks I looked at ran Garruk in some form.

I hope you own the majority of these cards already hahah, otherwise you may need a bank loan haha. But really nice deck man, on paper it looks like it will perform quite well.
APPLE01DOJ says... #1
Naw, worked it in. Don't really need 4x Oblitrexian Annihilator or Damnation
