In the past, my shop was building Pauper Commander decks based on the deck building constraints posted in Adam Styborski's article "Cheap Date". So unlike other Pauper metas, we were narrowed down to purely the ten MTGO allied generals. (This changed when the format got stale and Dominaria introduced a wealth of uncommon commanders. Also, Ethan Fleischer has confirmed that Chandler and Joven are probably listed rarity mistakes in Gatherer.)

Strategy Show

Early game, hold the ground with Dusk Legion Zealot , Omenspeaker , Gangrenous Zombies , Giant Scorpion , Lost Legion , Sea Gate Oracle , Stinkweed Imp , Venomous Changeling , and Thorn of the Black Rose . Ramp whenever possible.

Mid-game, counter and remove any significant threats that come your way with Blink of an Eye , Counterspell , Dissolve , Exclude , Into the Roil , Muddle the Mixture , Murder , etc. Spend as much time in second place as you can. Begin drawing cards where possible (excess mana into Rona for example. Feel free to blow Nihil Spellbomb early in order to replay it with Rona. Soul Barrier should slow the table down a bit.

Cast Fade Away / Crypt Rats / Pestilence / Evincar's Justice when an aggro deck like Shanna gets out of hand.

Late game, EOT before your turn, flicker with Displace / Ghostly Flicker on your ETB draw creatures OR Rishadan Cutpurse to drain excess mana and "counter" their interaction while recurring Displace / Ghostly Flicker with a Scrivener effect.

If Evincar's Justice or Pestilence loops become feasible, play the big hexproof creatures and preferably enchant one with Eternal Thirst to gain life back.

Alternatively, start flickering Gray Merchant of Asphodel .
