Initially I was fairly apathetic towards Commander from a deckbuilding standpoint. I felt 100 cards and no duplicates would just mean you gotta find a bunch of cards that are more or less synonyms, something rather frustrating when in regular decks you can just have 4 copies. Turns out this style of deckbuilding is more enticing than I anticipated. It's difficult to strike a good balance and more often than not I find myself agonizing over cutting just a single card! Being able to have only one copy of each card makes each of them feel a lot more valuable than in conventional decks where you can simply trim away 4 copies to 3.

Anyhow, this deck is intended as a Commander version of my regular deck; it mills itself to get valuable things in the grave and prospers off of this. It's easy to bring stuff back and several cards love it when there's a bunch of stuff in the grave. That, or cards that can exit the grave on their own without the need for an extra, in-between step.

For my Commander I chose Grist, Voracious Larva  , obviously, as Grist is my all-time favorite MtG character and I'm incapable of building anything outside of a Black/Green identity. Grist, the Hunger Tide is better for an Insect tribal deck, but this is more focused on slowly draining your opponent of life and reanimation with a more heavy focus on Black, which Grist, the Plague Swarm   interacts with more. Larva is also a very good first turn play. Plus, she's just so cute.

Overall the goal is to swarm the field with a bunch of small things, rather than reanimating a few huge creatures. This, combined with a few other creatures that deal chip damage to all opponents whenever something dies, hopefully will slowly but steadily wither my opponents away until only dust remains.

UPDATE: I've used this deck for the first time and managed to win the game! I'm pretty proud of how this all worked out. This is definitely the most "me" deck.
