What is New?
Disclaimer: This deck is built for after standard rotation.
Like my other feather deck, this is a strong standard deck built around the new angel
Feather, the Redeemed
from War of the Spark. I have added green for extra power, green includes;
Gruul Spellbreaker
;
Domri's Ambush
; and
Season of Growth
(in the main deck). For time's sake in the description of the deck I will call the combat tricks (cards like
Defiant Strike
) tricks, and creatures friends.
Feather and Her Friends
Like all feather decks this one runs endless combat tricks to make value with
Feather, the Redeemed
, and her friends:
Dreadhorde Arcanist
, tenth district legionare,
Gruul Spellbreaker
, and
Legion Warboss
.
Feather, the Redeemed
is the complete and utter bomb in this deck, if she stays around for a turn or two she will quickly steal you the game with non-stop card advantage (i'm not sure what gender the angel is but for now Ill call it a girl).
Dreadhorde Arcanist
is another card which can go bonkers after a while, as it effectively doubles every spell you cast.
tenth district legionare is an aggressive creature that grows out of hand extremely quickly when casting 'tricks' on it. It works at its best when combined with
Domri's Ambush
, as it gets two +1/+1 counters and can kill many creatures out there.
Gruul Spellbreaker
may not seem to do much, but it prevents you from getting two for oned or even three, or four for oned (a two for one is when one card destroys two, for example you cast tenth district legionare and cast the colossus side of colision / colossus on it, then the opponent kills both spells by casting a removal spell such
Ob Nixilis's Cruelty
) on the tenth district legionaire. It is also just a nice aggro body to wack your opponents with while targeting it with 'tricks'.
Legion Warboss
may not have many synergies in the deck but it is a broken card none the less. If your opponent cant deal with it can create an army of goblins. The deck is aggresive so in that way this card does fit the deck.
The Tricks
The tricks that I chose to include are
Defiant Strike
,
Gird for Battle
,
Domri's Ambush
,
Gods Willing
, and
Samut's Sprint
. Each trick has it's up and downs.
Domri's Ambush
in the main deck is a little risky, seen as creature-less control decks are so strong, but against any creature based deck, endlessly repeating
Domri's Ambush
with
Feather, the Redeemed
is almost unbeatable. Worst come to worst you can sideboard it out after game one in exchange for a variety of cards.
Gird for Battle
is absolutely insane if you can cast it on two creatures. Best case scenario would be:
T1. tapped
Sacred Foundry
T2.
Plains
into
Dreadhorde Arcanist
.
T3. land into tenth district legionare, then cast
Gird for Battle
on your team. attack with them and recast
Gird for Battle
with
Dreadhorde Arcanist
. You end up with a 3/5, and a massive 6/6 on only turn three! Usually that would be game over.
Unfortunately it is pretty unlikely to get those cards all at once so I only run two
Gird for Battle
.
Gods Willing
is likely to be the card that makes
Feather, the Redeemed
decks competitive. The ability to make creatures unblockable, and un-destroyable while scrying is very good, especially against control decks.
Season of Growth
is not technically a trick but what other category can I put it in? This card is insane in this deck and goes a very long way!
Mana Base
Look at the decklist, the only thing is
Temple of Abandon
hasn't actually been printed yet. If it isn't printed into standard just use something like
Rugged Highlands
instead.
The sideboard
After rotation we will see what decks are Feather's bad match ups, and adjust this deck then, but for now this is what the sideboard looks like (see deck list).
As Always please give me any advice or suggestions, and sorry for some of the bad grammar!
