I'LL BE BACK: Use two Garruk Wildspeaker abilities in one turn.

At some point i would like to feature this deck in one of my videos. Unfortunately, for me i won't be available to film a game this week due to school activities. March 23rd and onward i am free, so just let me know what works for we and we can work something out.

Utopia Sprawl instead of Somberwald Sage ? It's just bonkers with either Arbor Elf or Garruk Wildspeaker

BeowulfBjornson That's definitely a suggestion I'll consider. I probably won't remove Somberwald Sage (I like turn 3 Elesh Norn), but I may put it in in place of Sylvan Caryatid or Farseek . The worry is that it makes enemy land destruction that much more powerful.

Sun Titan 's been whining about how he wants to play with him. I might just kick him out to my Reanimator EDH.

Have u considered using karoo lands like Gruul Turf ?

They are pretty sick with Garruk Wildspeaker and Arbor Elf u can use the land before u have to return it to your hand.

NM u can't actually use Arbor Elf to untap Karoo lands. :/

Great deck, and you should say it has won two tournaments. I have a few suggestions, though.

  1. Focus on ramping into Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite . It destroys creature decks, and you play so many dorks that the turn after you play it, you swing for lethal (almost).

T1: land, Arbor Elf

T2: land, Somberwald Sage

T3: land, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite .

T4: Swing for 9 + more with land, Kessig Wolf Run , dork.

T5: Swing for lethal

Between the fact that you have most likely killed all your opponents' creatures or made them so small that your dorks are bigger than theirs. But this whole plan revolves around Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite , so what if she's removed?

2, There's the perfect card for that: Asceticism . Nobody runs enchantment hate, and you have a great matchup against creature decks and most combo decks, so what's left. The killing-creature decks. It's better than Ruric Thar, the Unbowed SB because, this way, they don't have the option. People will gladly pay 6 for Supreme Verdict or even Path to Exile , but Asceticism says: "Play what you want, but my creatures are here to stay for a while."

I see what you're saying, and I'll consider Asceticism for the sideboard. The problem is that I can't simply focus on resolving a Norn, and against a lot of decks, I'd rather have a different fatty. Given that I have 14 fatties in here, I'm sure I have enough to play around a Verdict. There are also some key benefits of Ruric Thar: he's a creature, and so he can be sided in for a different fatty without disrupting the balance of the deck, and can attack and block, and he also does a lot of work against non-control decks. He hurts Tron, RDW and so on, whereas Asceticism only helps against control. I already have Thrun, the Last Troll in the side to deal with Control, so I don't really need much more anyway.

What problems with graveyard decks warrant 2 copies of Tormod's Crypt SB?

March 30, 2014 5:37 p.m.

megawurmple says... #12

To be honest, they were only in there for a short time due to the sudden resurgence of graveyard-based decks after the DRS ban. They help against Living End and that's about it really. I'm strongly considering removing them for another Bonfire of the Damned and/or Thrun, the Last Troll in the sideboard.

And/or Asceticism ?

KingSorin says... #14

Relic of Progenitus is probably better than Tormod's Crypt , as it can stick around getting rid of stuff for ages, and when it's served its uses, you can cantrip it off. It also keeps with the theme of big stuff :)

If you're worried with wraths, Wrap in Vigor is pretty nice :)

BeowulfBjornson I like that idea, I'll try to work that into the sideboard somehow.

you need to change your description; it is no longer 7 mana T3, it is 12. geez.

March 31, 2014 3:41 p.m.

megawurmple says... #18

I edited it to 7+ mana because I very rarely get more than 8 or 9. 12 is only with the god hand, and isn't really worth putting in the description as it will most likely never happen.

go TitansFTW!! +1 for a truly amazing deck. I've actually decided to build it, and already have a couple of the cards.

Have you ever thought about Dungrove Elder for this deck? You could play it as a two or three-of after Prime Time gets to work.
