PooPlayer Thanks for the advice. I'll have a think about it and see which cards suit my sideboard best.

now that onslaught fetches are re-printed i'd advice you test Lotus Cobra and play a playsets of Wooded Foothills & Windswept Heath as they'll be pretty cheap in a month
T1 arbor elf T2 utopia, untap it tap for cobra, play a fetch and crack for an untapped land giving you three mana so obviously quicker than the somberwald's even more so since you can do something with them that turn which is important given early dorks draw removal. i use this in two of my decks and it kicks but, i routinely get up to 11 mana turn three having already put a cobra & Loxodon Smiter in on turn two but on paper can go higher.

I'm certainly considering going down that route. Another option I'm considering with the printing of fetches is going 5 colour (obviously still primarily green), and I think Lotus Cobra would be a big help in that regard. 5 colours would give me more options for fatties, and most notably in the sideboard. I'll test it and see what happens.

might be a good idea to start fresh in that respect, be cool to see how things pan out :)

I was thinking of making a copy and doing some big changes there. I'll let you know once the results are in.

Usually when I try that rather than starting with a blank canvas that aims to do something similar I hit writers block of soughts.

Nah, I prefer smaller adjustments, but to each their own I guess. I just like to know that I have a winning formula here, so instead of making a different deck entirely I'm simply optimising what I already have. I get better results that way.

I can't help but wonder, doesn't your opponent just use his removal on your dorks in the early game? That way you seem very vulnerable? Never played modern, but would like to give it a go, so i am trying to understand how it works :)

That is definitely a problem, which is why I've tried to use non-creature ramp slightly more. I've got the land enchantments and Garruk to help with that to an extent.

Trace of Abundance is a nice option if your opponents like to run Ghost Quarter and the like. Also seen it used with Bloom Tender for similar effect to Somberwald Sage . I feel you may get some use as well out of say a Chord of Calling in place of an Elesh Norn. 7+ mana on Turn 3 likely will translate into 10+ on Turn 4, and you'll have that extra option to pull exactly what you need out of the toolbox.

The point is to use utopia sprawl with the arbor elf, the shroud negates this. It's also something to sideboard for, in my big naya with similar ramp I have a sun titan mainboarded which helps and a lower curve if things go wrong.
October 26, 2014 2:31 a.m.
True I didn't think about the shroud screwing up land untaps, although I meant to replace the 2 of Fertile Ground rather than Utopia Sprawl . Sprawl is very necessary.

Have you considered implementing flyers in here such as Hellkite Charger and/or Gisela, Blade of Goldnight ? This deck is really sweet, I love early ramp and you really succeeded in building a deck around it. +1

Thanks SevynnthDimension. Regarding flyers, I know that flying is a big weakness for this deck but there aren't a huge amount of good flying creatures in Naya colours. However, I'm currently in the process of refining a 4/5 colour version of this with fetches and all that jazz, and that has Rune-Scarred Demon .

I suppose, but I think Gisela, Blade of Goldnight is a solid flying card no? Anyway I expect that new version to be as good if not better than this haha :P.

So I've been playtesting, and I was finding that I had a lot of mana to spare, I was thinking that Crater's Claws would be a good fit here. And I'm aware of your existing mana dump, Kessig Wolf Run, but I think direct damage would be more suitable for the deck, considering your creatures get buffed enough and if ou're in a situation where you are unable to swing out, then a claws might be the top deck for you. Thoughts?

uh Banefire, this is modern and no, there's just too many ramp pieces it could easily drop a few for mid range options

SevynnthDimension says... #21
Lol, don't know my modern cards apparently, Banefire is a way better option for sure.
November 7, 2014 5:41 p.m.
In a situation where Banefire isn't necessarily a kill shot, I'd rather run Bonfire of the Damned. As for flyers, Restoration Angel with titans is sexy. Hasty dragons are nice too. Plenty of good options.
November 7, 2014 11:46 p.m.
I was experimenting with your deck. I replaced the Inferno Titans with Shaman of the Great Hunt. Holy mother of card draw batman. Turn 6 I was drawing 5 cards (for 4 mana) off of this guy all while pumping the rest of the fatties that were pouring out.
January 12, 2015 8:04 p.m.
Just reading your description, you say fetch lands don't actually thin your deck. While they may not mathematically be relevant the first few fetches, they do actually thin your deck.

I LOVE THIS DECK. I have nowhere near 5-600 dollars to invest, but I can almost guarantee it's worth every penny. What's up with the Breeding Pool? And unless you're going for modern legal/tournament legal, why don't you run Deathrite Shaman with all the fetches? Not to mention he's a bomb in any b/g deck.

i'd suggest diversifying the sideboard somewhat especially since deck's like this really suffer against living end
Rest in Peace hit's living end at it's core, also good against flashback effects in control/token weenie, pod since it exiles the persist guys, goyf & scooz in in aggro decks so superior to tormod's crypt by far
Linvala, Keeper of Silence hit's a wide range of decks, great against affinity
Stony Silence is of course primarily for affinity but also nice against eggs & tron
Combust + Krosan Grip to stop twins from going off also hit's collonade's in control which are out of your grasp until elesh is in play or you have a path. but also worth thinking about Seal of Primordium over the grip.
Rule of Law & Ethersworn Canonist hit storm and stops cascade in living end so they have to suspend it & then hard cast which usually doesn't work out for them
Sigarda, Host of Herons again a strong one against living end as it now just removes creatures from your grave, also stops annihilator in tron as well as All Is Dust . worth brining in against jund that's playing lili veil and control for the hexproof that's bigger than their colonnade's etc
normally i would suggest Ghostly Prison to help against super aggro decks, tokens and kiki/twin but since you're not playing fetches Suppression Field will lock out allot more for you including incidentally decks that do play fetches. only downside being it hit's garruk and the kessigs, but given the benefit it's worth it.
lastly Shatterstorm for affinity
on a side note have you consider Batterskull for the mainboard over the wurmcoils? easier to cast with the obvious benefit of being able to equip to anything or return to hand. anyhow love the deck, building my own version around it which i'm like allot, just got tinkering & testing to do :)
