tw0handt0uch, advice on a good replacement for Crypt? I know that it's probably irreplaceable for what it does, but would Grim Monolith be a worthy replacement? Or should I put a card with a different function instead?

I just put Gruul Signet in it's place since signets are always good. Grim Monolith would probably be a lot better since it's fast mana though.

Monolith, Elvish Spirit Guide, Lotus Petal, Signet.

Would you consider Titania's Song as a worthy replacement for Null Rod  or are the mana costs too restrictive (which shouldn't be a problem since the deck is running a lot of ramp)?

It’s a very good swap if you don’t have a null rod. In some ways it’s even better because it kills the zero rocks.

Thoughts on life from the loam to reset faster post MLD?

Not a fan of loam... early in the game you are usually just trying to survive and loam ia just too dead

Thoughts on Helm of the Host as seen in a recent spike feeder episode? Multiple Thars seems nigh unbeatable after a couple turn cycles, but is it too slow?

Ill have to check out the video. Seems cute and fun but resolving two sorcery speed big spells back to back isvery unlikely. Still would be fun to live that dream though.

Is it worth running Crop Rotation in a Cradle-less build of this deck?

I can imagine using it as a surprise Cavern or a Forbidden Orchard--to give an opponent a spirit to try and trigger Defense--though, which makes it kinda good.

Thoughts?

With so many mana dorks in your deck it might be worth considering Winter Orb to further lock down your opponents; giving them even less things to play while you can still cast most of your spells via mana dorks.

Another thing I thought of is Dragon Throne of Tarkir . This’ll keep Ruric Thar from attacking and instead rely more on just his ability. It’ll also make your mana dorks more lethal in the mid-to-late stages of the game.

What are your thoughts? I enjoy this deck very much. It’s such a different take on a Ruric Thar deck. Even my Ruric Thar deck is just a creature beat down deck; I don’t have enough of an imagination to think of something like this :P If you’d like check out my Ruric Thar deck: Ruric Thar's Guide to Punching Mages in the Face! and lemme know what you think. I’d like to hear your opinion.

I have been playing around with a similiar Ruric Thar plus land destruction deck brew and was wondering if you had to add one more planeswalker what it would be...I have the new Domri but im not sure if thats the one I want. Any thoughts?

Combat Celebrant is also a win-con with Kiki, can be searched with Recruiter or Bellower, and untaps all your dorks by himself if you don't have the combo.

Sorry, not recruiter, but does work with bellower

Bellower only fetches green

Love the list, and love it when there are powerful cEDH lists that have a combat win con. Out of curiosity, any thoughts on Rhythm of the Wild in cEDH? Is the potential for uncounterability and hasty dorks useful enough for 3 cmc?

February 22, 2019 9:35 a.m.

OptimalGreen says... #22

Yeah I was wondering about Rhythm of the Wild too since I got one in the Gruul kit since I bought one for the foil Ruric Thar. Seems like it could be neat.

I've been referencing this list and these comments for a few months now. I've finally got a budget version of my own.

Also, have you considered Keldon Firebombers ? Most of your tutors can get it, and it can be cast with mana from Shaman of Forgotten Ways/Somberwald Sage. Plus, no damage when Ruric is out!

tw0handt0uch says... #24

I did consider kfb mostly bc i like old border foils. Never did try it though. Your meta would have to be real land-ramp heavy though. For many good decks, 3 lands is plenty for them to win

3 lands is plenty for them to win

But Wildfire/Destructive Force are good enough, even though they kill your dorks/Titania? How do you play them?
