Tools for the Job! Show

Board Wiping

Generally, dropping a Languish will be the go-to solution for clearing out a growing or overwhelming board state.

Spot Removal

This is easy!

1. Grasp of Darkness
2. Ultimate Price
3. Dead Weight
4. Ruinous Path (Also, Awaken!)
5. Ob Nixilis Reignited

When playing a devoid deck, or in a multi-color matchup our Ultimate Price will not work, though that's easily slotted and dealt with accordingly!

Use Infinite Obliteration to remove the biggest threats.

If they build a board presence, you're falling behind, just drop a Tragic Arrogance.

To many tokens? Easy. Virulent Plague

If everything else fails, and a white wheeny deck gets in under, drop a Flaying Tendrils!

Knowledge & Evisceration

1. Duress
2. Transgress the Mind

If possible, the most effective way to not only deal with a threat, but prevent it entirely is to rip it out of their hands and throw it away!

In your mirror match this becomes the most important tool, that can easily be looped with Den Protector and/or Dark Petition + Seasons Past

We're not countering and controlling what exactly will see play, however with a board state you're much harder to get in under, over, or through.

Once you build up a state it's quite difficult for enemies to get through, and if you pilot your plays you're clear for a win.

How you use your tools entirely depends on the matchup and situation.

For the most part, reading the above "tools" section will outline what to use and where. Though, there may be times you have to reach.

Mirror Match

In a Mirror Match, or against another control matchup you save Ruinous Path and Anguished Unmaking for imposing threats.

Aggro Matchup

Spot Removal with Grasp of Darkness , Ultimate Price, Ruinous Path.

Drop your Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet to make use of all the kills you earn.

Save a Languish for a state that simply needs to be swept.

If you find they race your mana, and beat you down far beyond repair, side in a Nissa's Renewal and watch them squirm!

Notes

You can use the tools one at a time, or orchestrate your execution and plan your kill... How you win is up to you. The deck won't do it for you, but the cards to do so are available.

Just because you can open a bottle with a hammer doesn't mean you should do so.Choose the right tool for the job
