Preparing for DTK —March 7, 2015
Deconstructed my Atarka deck for now, definitely going to revisit it after Dragons of Tarkir comes out, had to rebuild and update my Temur deck a little bit. Moved Sagu Mauler to sideboard for control match-ups, made room for a fourth maindeck Shaman of the Great Hunt and third Stormbreath Dragon - they do SO much work.
Going to need a bit of testing with the sideboard, but with things about to be thrown up by Dragons of Tarkir, I'll worry about that when I can actually start testing it. Can't wait to get my hands on Thunderbreak Regent and Sarkhan Unbroken, and I'm definitely seeing the Roast potential.
Dragonlord Atarka is a big contesting point, I just dumped the Maulers to sideboard for being 6-drops (that can be cheated in through Morph), but they're great for control match-ups once they're on the field. DL Atarka...if I'm going to play a seven-drop, she's the one to make me do it. 8/8 Flying, Trample for 7, plus a kill spell ETB effet...I want to run 1-2 in sideboard, I'm just not who sure she's for.
Atarka's Command will definitely find a place in this deck, the third ability doesn't seem relevant right now, though it's certainly not bad. Between the first, second, and fourth abilities though...this card is going to see Modern, of course it's going to find some playability in Standard. 2-mana instant with options, I'll figure something out. Wish it had a fight option though, but hey.
