You really want a more concise game plan, tighter card list and simply more playsets (4-ofs), I'll be more specific as to what I think would be good changes later today when I have more time.

Simon_Williamson, Yeah. Sometimes I think about tight to playsets - or close to that. In older versions of this deck, I used to do that. When I did, it was stronger in synergy, but, in other hand, fragile to deal to different issues/threats. But I'm eager to listen to your advices - thanks in advance!

Weaponcraft Enthusiast is not good here, neither is Scrapheap Scrounger or Demonlord of Ashmouth, it's not quite enough speed, pressure, or recursion to be worth it for Modern. I'd run a suite of removal (at least 8 cheap kill spells) to slow your opponents, cut two gravepact, consider Dictate of Erebos if you come across it as more useful late game than Bloodline Keeper  Flip or Demon of Death's Gate. Maybe splash green for an Eldritch Evolution deck? If so Kitchen Finks would fit nicely, and one copy of Melira, Sylvok Outcast for the combo. In any case I believe Carrier Thrall should be a 4 of, at the cost of Vampiric Rites and Phyrexian Arena. A single Disciple of Bolas can help late game for a grinder match.

I'm not sure what exactly to do with mono-black, good luck though! I hope this helped.

Thanks, Simon_Williamson. I really think that Weaponcraft Enthusiast and Demonlord of Ashmouth - worst than Abyssal Persecutor indeed - can make room to more Carrier Thrall. Thanks!Things that I didn't get it: Why Dictate of Erebos over Grave Pact? Beside the flash, Grave Pact its cheaper and provide me more devotion to Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx.

My mistake, devotion is real. Although I will say that this deck wants a playset of Bloodghast, haste in devotion are cute but it has insane recursion. Really though you want more remival, I think you can utilize something like the following 4x Tragic Slip4x Smother

Maybe Innocent Blood if sorcery speed is play with you.

Bloodghast is a nice card. But the problem its the early drops (Bloodsoaked Champion and Scrapheap Scrounger) also don't block. Innocent Blood would be nice! But isn't Modern legal...

As you can tell I carefully crafty advice and rigourously test each suggestion with my superior knowledge and intellect. I am a jeenyus.

Thylian1, Phyrexian Obliterator its a amazing card. Really. But I can't see it connecting with the deck, besides the devotion. The major removals on format are Path to Exile and Journey to Nowhere (thank you, Dredge!). Usually, when I deal with these removals, I trigger Viscera Seer, Bloodthrone Vampire or other 'sac enabler' to send the creature to graveyard, that bounces back (Geralf's Messenger) or come back later (Bloodsoaked Champion or Bloodghast).

But Phyrexian Obliterator always deserves a shot; What would you drop to make room to it?

Honestly I don't know. Seems like the list is really cramped already, I guess Vampire Nocturnus because only some of the creatures are vampires, so it can be a 4 mana 3/3.

Thylian1, in fact I've made some changes in deck, focusing on major feature; sacrifice and profit.

3x Bloodghast were added. And one more Bitterblossom to fuel sac outlets, that received reinforcements: 2x Smothering Abomination - very handy; It's a draw engine, a good body and a Sac outlet.

I'm doing some tests and Phyrexian Obliterator is not discarted yet.

If you were running more vamps I'd reccomend Blade of the Bloodchief in concert with Call the Bloodline and Indulgent Aristocrat- it provides a lot of growing lifelink theats, stalling out a lot of midrange decks. Pawn of Ulamog is also worth a look. Sideboard though I've found Mind Slash to be a superb sacrifice outlet and lategame hand control. Its difficult to remove once they're topdecking, deals with a lot of later game threats and keeps ticking over against control- with a zombie on the board and gravecrawler it just empties their hand. Spawning Pit is another interesting one, but artifacts are still sideboarded heavily against wherever I go. I have this big list of goodstuff if you want to look Mono black deckbuilder's toolbox.

Hi lagotripha, thanks for the sugestions!

In a recent past, this deck was full of vampires and I used to use Bloodsoaked Champion as recursive body and Pawn of Ulamog as body generator. After some tests, I found in Gravecrawler and Relentless Dead better replacements - because Gravecrawler can return more often than Bloodsoaked guy. And Relentless Dead its a fantastic blocker that can bring Geralf's Messenger or Gray Merchant of Asphodel from GY very easily. In that old days, Blade of the Bloodchief, Bloodghast and Call the Bloodline were crucial pieces - working nice and sweet with Voldaren Pariah  Flip and discard Lilly's effect!

But nowadays Im a zombie guy (to fully use Gravecrawler and Relentless Dead nasty and faster features). If Viscera Seer was a zombie, this mechanic would be crazy (or best: if Carrion Feeder was Modern legal)! And sometimes I think to replace Bloodthrone Vampire with Nantuko Husk beside the 1 CMC cheaper to improve zombies interaction. What do you think? And about other zombies (or creatures) that would fit - any ideas?

Mind Slash goes in and out of main and SB, depending on the meta I'm dealing - it's a incredible hand attack, indeed.

About the list Mono black deckbuilder's toolbox, it is already in my 'Modern' bible list! And even made a comment there couple days ago! Really nice job! I'll sugest more tolls to your box soon!

And thanks for the time and attention!

Thanks, its good to know its being used!

I've tested Dregscape Zombie alongside Rotting Rats to put gravecrawler onto empty boards, but its not a fantastic setup- too many slots to sideboard, too neiche to main board - you might get some more traction from sacrificing it but I'm not super confident. Stillmoon Cavalier/Haakon, Stromgald Scourge/Stromgald Crusader is similar, without red for new volderaden it turns out very weak to random token generation.

Withered Wretch is a bad relic of progenitus that provides a zombie body. Yixlid Jailer similar.

Honestly, I'd just throw a Whip of Erebos in there rather than mucking about. Probs simpler and more effective than the other stuff. The setup looks solid enough, you aren't accelerating into a massive Profane Command for grey merchant, so you could probsbly cut Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx for some random utility lands without losing too much (except that hardcast death's gate), Mystifying Maze perhaps. It looks pretty together here though, so let me know how it turns out!

Hi lagotripha - sorry for the late answering.

From last comment I've made some changes on deck:

  • Add some discard to main; 2x of Inquisition of Kozilek and Collective Brutality

  • Replaced Bloodthrone Vampire for Nantuko Husk (zombie fixing, plus combo with Gravecrawler)

  • On SB, added 2x Phyrexian Revoker and 3x Evil Presence to deal with my LGS meta; combos (such Melira's and Scapeshift) and TRON. Lots of TRON. Tested Smallpox and Rain of Tears but are both too slow - Evil Presence it's cheap and fast. I think Against control and aggro decks i think the deck handle well enough and usually the matchups are good ones.

  • I've cut Relentless Dead and Death's Gate to make room for changes. The first one because I rarely had extra mana to use his recursion/unearth ability - but its a incredible card (insane blocker) and I may return it. About Death's Gate Demon, cast it by sac is a nice and fast move, but too risky; one path and you lose all the board advantage. If it had hexproof, would be 4x on deck.

Considering your suggestions, Whip of Erebos would be a way to bring back bodys to beat and sac, right? But assuming my low-curve, which cut would you suggest to make? Or maybe a SB to use with Burn/8-Rack?

And about cut Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, I usually use it for pump Nantuko Husk + Gravecrawler combo but admit isn't fast enough to do it on early games. What utility lands would you suggest, besides Mystifying Maze? - nice, btw. Remind that Geralf's Messenger and Phyrexian Obliterator requires a solid black mana-base - that Urborg can fix.

Thanks for the time and tips!

ps.: I'm developing a version of the deck using Eldritch Evolution and a tollbox of creatures to bring with it. If you can add some ideas for it, let me know!

In a tron heavy meta, Ghost Quarter makes an impact. Damping Matrix works pretty well too. All told sideboard looks good-

On the eldritch evolution note Kitchen Finks is a staple for a reason, and running some chord and Melira, Sylvok Outcast makes it a silly combo deck. Otherwise, I'd be splashing green for Collected Company and graveyard shenanigans. Seeing that meta, test sideboard Mimic Vat. It interrupts persist with an exile trigger on your opponent's turn (they can still combo in theirs) and if you can kill a big creature from regular tron it stalls the game neatly, dodging all is dust. YMMV against weirder tron setups. If you're more of a traditionalist Shadow of Doubt completely stops Expedition Map, Chord of Calling etc to help prevent setup. Bitter Ordeal is your ideal anti combo tool here- if you're prepared to ditch that gravecrawler and seer early you can remove a player's tron, or just a bunch of differently named key cards. If you do go G/B infinite sacrifice combo, it lets you exile a players' library. Sadistic Sacrament does work, but many other options have the 'nonland' listing.

Evil Presence is a great choice- Contaminated Ground can be a few more copies if you want to go all in on that.

This does play a little against your gameplan though as most of it doesn't come with attached bodies, so you should watch out for that tempo loss. I'd probably run whip SB against a less combo-y meta, to swap with bitterblossom or creatures. You aren't running Gray Merchant of Asphodel to nuke an opponent and swing back the life totals, and aren't losing too much life to anything bar bitterblossom, so its pretty much a per matchup basis.
