Instead of Fog I would consider playing Constant Mists .

Adarkar Valkyrie , Dauntless Escort and Loxodon Hierarch can also protect your Felidar Sovereign . As do Privileged Position , Asceticism , Avacyn, Angel of Hope , Cloudshift , Deathless Angel , Swiftfoot Boots , Nim Deathmantle .

Chord of Calling is a GREAT way to put Felidar Sovereign into play at end of turn!! Elvish Piper and Quicksilver Amulet too, but you don't have enough fatties to pull them off. But the Chord of Calling should definitely be in there.

card:Moment's Peace should be replacing one of the Fog -effects... It's got Flashback...

Words of Worship -Well of Lost Dreams is a little combo I always suggest when commenting a life-gain deck. They're both good cards on their own, but together they're completely absolutely nuts...

cool deck though, +1

Thanks a bunch guys. found some great new cards to playtest. The only reason I don't run Constant Mists is because it leaves me high and dry mid-game, however card:Moment's Peace has been mentioned twice now. I think i'll try it out.

not sure how much it will help but I have a saffi deck as well mine doesnt revolve around life gain but I have a few infinite combos either way one of them being life gain from either a soul warden effect or from Kitchen Finks with sac and persist.

self righteous suicide let me know what you think and hope it helps.

Ethereal Haze would be better then Holy Day because it would prevent all damage not just combat. Heavy Fog could also be good and not sure but I also found Pollen Lullaby .

Oracle of Nectars would go great in this deck. Also, I would switch out Wall of Omens with Wall of Reverence

Also, if you wanted to add some more aggressive-ness to this deck, check out Cradle of Vitality

Oh, one more, If you're having trouble dumping cards, card:Venser's Journal might be of assistance.

card:Heroes' Reunion, Rest for the Weary , Kabira Crossroads , Near-Death Experience , and the Soul Sisters/Essence Warden are all underwhelming in EDH.

Life gain tends not to be a very strong strategy in EDH. Combo decks will ruin you because they go infinite and tend to be a bit faster than this deck appears to be. You can probably fend off aggro decks, but you'll need to really work to win through lifegain in those matchups.

I feel that the deck kind of lacks depth; you're devoting almost all of your board space to the lifegain strategy but there doesn't seem to be a lot of consistency. If you're going all-in like this, you have to focus on that strategy as much as possible. Use Idyllic Tutor , Academy Rector , and Planar Portal to tutor for win-cons. Focus on more utilitarian creatures.

Yea I was wondering about the soul sisters too. So you think i should make my deck more enchantment heavy?

so far with the soul's i can go Aluren +Soul Warden + General= inf life.

aluren is new but before they were meant for long term lifegain, but i see what you mean.

September 5, 2012 5:40 p.m.

I don't see how that combo goes infinite. You still have to pay the general tax to recast Saffi.

You don't necessarily have to be more enchantment heavy, you just have to be able to find the cards that matter.

the commander replay rule doesn't increase the cmc, it is additional cost to cast the commmander for each time it was previously cast from the command zone. so aluren works.

That's wrong. The commander replay rule increases the total casting cost of the spell. Since it is an additional cost, you must still pay it. Aluren doesn't negate additional costs.

I'm sorry but unless your a judge i can't in good faith believe you.

I'm one of the site's rules gurus and I understand more than some judges I've met. If you don't believe me, then google "aluren and generals" and see what comes up.

I did all last night. I'm not kidding, i was up till 3oclock, i hit at least 15 forums and the one i pasted was the ruling i got. I also have a friend looking into it, he desperately doesnt want this to work lol. he also has a number to a Lv2-3 so I'll ask him today at our weekly local gathering

September 5, 2012 6 p.m.

Note the Oracle text for Aluren :

Any player may play creature cards with converted mana cost 3 or less without paying their mana cost and as though they had flash.
Aluren specifically states that it only negates the mana cost of the creature cards you cast. Additional costs are not covered by this statement.Thread where an L1 agreesThread where an L2 agrees

i would add card:Gaea's Cradle and Swords to Plowshares ... looks fun though

I already have swords, but gaea looks like a great idea thank you for the look see

card:Gaea's Cradle is almost prohibitively expensive but obviously a card that you want. strict life gain cards like card:Heroes' Reunion are pretty weak in EDH. i would add in Kitchen Finks and use the Saffi + Reveillark combo so you can gain infinite life, if you want to keep going down the win-via-lifegain route

also Near-Death Experience seems almost completely useless in yr deck
