Saffi sacrifices herself for the joy of repeatable value fun. Love synergy? The sum is greater than the parts in this deck. It looks to win through card advantage, making opponents 2 for 1 most things. Almost everything in the deck interacts with the other pieces in various ways, leading to a wide variety of lines to play, (examples below). The most entertaining for me is creating an infinite lifegain loop and blasting each opponent for 50 via Aetherflux Reservoir.

Why Saffi?

Saffi gives you access to a low cmc commander who doesn't mind a few trips to the graveyard and back again. She enables part of many combos easily and is right at home as the head of a synergy filled toolbox of weenie creatures who can craft a win in a variety of ways.

She is often included in decks like Karador, Ghost Chieftain, or Captain Sisay as one of the 99, but since many of those decks rely heavily on her to win anyway, putting her in the command zone gives access to her early and often for minimal cost. It also allows us to go all in on the many value creatures in G/W, although you do lose access to black.

Pros

*Very versatile, resilient deck, lots of recursion, opponents need to spend removal repeatedly to deal with you, and they may be reluctant to use it on small creatures. Wraths often result in this deck coming out with little damage to the board state and often help it, yet opponents can't afford to let the pieces sit and get out of hand.

*Fun, highly interactive deck with many synergies and possibilities. This version does not aim to simply go infinite asap, though it definitely will at times, rather preferring to grind out value over time, stringing value pieces together like a puzzle.

*Often maintains board presence throughout the game, mostly cheap cast creatures make bounce effects like Cyclonic Rift less painful.

Cons

*Somewhat light on direct removal, relies on creative solutions to deal with threats.

*Small creatures will lose 1v1 to opponents bigger threats. Saffi can play very fast and just shoot for a combo off win asap, however, this version plays as a hybrid damage build in addition to combo finishers. This slows it down but also fits my meta which is creature heavy and frowns upon infinite wins. With this build, there is strength in numbers, synergy is key. Renegade Rallier and Saffi Eriksdotter are small weak bodies alone, together they are an indestructible blocking force and infinite loop if you have a sac outlet. These interactions are plentiful and those who have faced the deck complain that it is annoying to remove threats as they always seem to come back.

*This deck is somewhat vulnerable to graveyard hate, but because it uses the graveyard as a temporary zone rather than having things sit, it can get around most things easily enough, (don't overextend if you can't survive their Rest in Peace)

*Frequent deck shuffles due to tutoring slows the game.

*Combos and loops can be complex, and time consuming to explain to other players.

Gameplan

Try not to over commit to the board, (though thanks to Saffi, board wipes often put you ahead. Simply activate her ability to bring something like Karmic guide back and your board can come right back. You are most vulnerable when opponents use spot removal on Saffi. Normally you will let Saffi go to graveyard but there are times you want her in command zone as well. Her cast cost is small and often doesn't hurt much coming from command zone. She is important to the deck but it can survive without her in this version.

Win-conditions include: Aetherflux Reservoir, Altar of Dementia, Blasting Station, using Cathars' Crusade/Archangel of Thune/Mirror Entity to pump creatures. Vizier of Remedies+Devoted Druid infinite mana with a Hurricane/Squall Line can finish things as well. Walking Ballista could work here as well but I like Hurricane as it hits the whole table at once.

There are multiple combos and all the pieces can interact in some way. The deck is very resilient and rewards creative thinking to navigate the lines of play.

Combos

There are lots of different value plays that can be combined to create value in this deck. Examples below:

*Use the following infinite loops with Cathars' Crusade, Goldnight Commander to pump your whole board repeatedly, with Genesis Chamber to create infinite 1/1 tokens, Trostani, Selesnya's Voice to gain infinite life, Altar of the Brood mills everyone potentially for a win. (you can always use Altar of Dementia or Blasting Station as well).

*Sun Titan/Karmic Guide/Renegade Rallier/Reveillark+Saffi Eriksdotter+Sacrifice outlet for infinite ETB triggers, Fiend Hunter is another one that fits in this group as they all play well together.

Sun Titan+Gift of Immortality+Sac Outlet

*Juniper Order Ranger/Cathars' Crusade+Kitchen Finks+Sac outlet for infinite life. Pair with Aetherflux Reservoir to finish. Archangel of Thune+Spike Feeder for infinite life.

*Felidar Guardian+Restoration Angel for repeated ETB triggers, useful with Trostani, Selesnya's Voice/Essence Warden for infinite life. Pair with Aetherflux Reservoir to finish. Also useful with Cathars' Crusade

Other interactions:

Kitchen Finks+ Archangel of Thune

Kitchen Finks+Juniper Order Ranger

Vizier of Remedies+Devoted Druid

Archangel of Thune+Spike Feeder

Eidolon of Blossoms+Gift of Immortality

I hope you enjoy this deck as much as I do.
