Do you prefer Night's Whisper over Sign in Blood? The BB shouldn't matter too much I would think and sometimes it's fun to finish your opponent by making them draw cards haha.

I actually prefer Sign in Blood but since I'm running 5 lands that produce colorless without Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth I went for Night's Whisper so I don't get screwed

Bight's Whisper is a fine choice, given the mana base and high devotion.

I mean it is the only thing in there that has a CMC > 1 that doesn't have at least BB in its mana cost haha.

love the deck, +1 from me. Both obliterator arts are awesome. Have you considered Tainted Strike or Phyresis for throwing infect on your obliterators or nighthawks?

ErebusX says... #11

id recommend at least two phyresis, unless you have a way to return instant's from your graveyard

KaiserMTG says... #12

Hmmmm and with a Lashwrithe on an Obliterator it could easily be a 1 swing kill/board wipe. I'll try them out, but I think I may need to go full infect to make it worth it

Just curious, are you using Phyrexian Arena over Dark Confidant for budgetary concerns or for the extra sticky devotion? With the Vampire Nighthawks and Whip of Erebos the life loss from Bob isn't as big a deal

budget, devotion and I would hate to hit Gary or any 4 cmc

Oh man...if I only had the cash. The only thing that would make it more sexy is some Phyrexian Infect swaps in sideboard.

hows MB Vampire Hexmage working for you? Seems like something else may be better in that slot?

I would cut the 2 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx for some MB Ghost Quarters instead.

Vampire Hexmage is awesome, completely underrated and undervalued card. 2B for a 2/1 with first strike and the ability to instant remove any planeswalker. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx has came in handy so much in this deck. It has allowed me to drop a Phyrexian Obliterator and Gary in the same turn. All permanents (except Lashwrithe) have at least 2B, so with 2 permanents on the board I'm already getting positive mana out of Nyxthos

March 28, 2016 11:28 a.m.

In this deck, I think you have enough removal between Path to Exile and Dismember, so running Phyrexian Arena would probably be better.

What are the Vampire Hexmage for?

With the white splash, you're missing out on a ton of really nice sideboard cards like Stony Silence, Kor Firewalker, Kataki, War's Wage, Disenchant, and a bunch of other cards.

Ya I just splashed the white so I haven't looked into the sideboard much but thanks for the suggestions. Vampire Hexmage is awesome, primarily for planeswalker removal. People seem a bit iffy about her, but she's come in handy so much that I can't justify taking her out.

Do you think something like Pooling Venoms would help you against Tron? Or might that be too situational for sideboard and make you too slow?

March 29, 2016 9:43 p.m.

KaiserMTG says... #24

Yeah Pooling Venom wouldn't work well since they would probably just take the 2 life to drop an Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger lol. Contaminated Ground would be better, but again to specific in utility to run. The MB Ghost Quarters and SB Fulminator Mages are plenty to deal with Tron lands. Thanks for the suggestion tho

Hi!

Obviously this deck is kind of slow so I would recommend removal over draw power. But I think you need to tweak the deck.

I would suggest going to 3 Phyrexian Obliterator. You are so heavy on 4-drops at the moment that it is making the deck curve in a really silly way.

I think you should perhaps be on something like:

Creatures - 17

2 Relentless Dead. I recommend this over hexmage simply because hexmage becomes outclassed in the late game and relentless dead is always a relevant creature. Hexmage can't do anything against bigger threats. Relentless dead can. And like, no one is playing planeswalkers in high level modern except Jund/Abzan.

4 Gatekeeper of Malakir

4 Vampire Nighthawk

1 Geralf's Messenger

3 Phyrexian Obliterator

3 Gray Merchant of Asphodel

Enchantments - 2

2 Whip of Erebos

Control - 11-13

2-3 Thoughtseize

2-3 Inquisition of Kozilek

4 Path to Exile

1 Dismember

1 Slaughter Pact

1 Victim of Night

Remember you also have gatekeeper of malakir

Draw - 2

2 Phyrexian Arena or Sign in Blood or Read the Bones (depends on if you want immediate draw or not). Sometimes being able to just draw 2 instantly is far more useful than having to wait.
