This deck is designed to run around play sets or near play sets of cards that trigger abilities based off of having the same name.

Sphinx of the Chimes allows me to discard 2 cards with the same name to draw 4. The idea here is to ensure that no 2 cards are really going to be as good as any 4 more. In initial playtesting of this deck the Sphinx's ability works well and I never have any trouble finding stuff to discard. This deck could really use a second Sphinx of the Chimes , but I built it with cards I actually possess, so I will have to acquire it later.

Here's the rundown:

Main utility creatures are Crosstown Courier and Stealer of Secrets , to be enchanted with Tricks of the Trade with the intention of making the opponent mill or drawing for myself. Both good. Cancel is in there as pure hard counter defense.Fog Bank for a good defensive creature while the deck gets going.

The intention around these cards with the same name outside of just Sphinx of the Chimes is the 1 Search the City I've pulled. Most of these cards are relatively low costers, and so aren't too difficult to resolve Search the City 's ability and get a field of unblockable control creatures. For this reason, I also included a play set of Index to both search for Search the City and to peek at the cards I am about to exile to make sure the time is right.

Inspiration I'm on the fence about. Blue draw cards always cost a little too much for how much they actually draw for you, but when you need to draw, it's better than nothing. Furthermore, Inspiration makes an excellent card to discard for Sphinx of the Chimes ' ability. All around though it could be replaced with a more key component.

Chronic Flooding sucks to deal with, and slows down the opponent while I work.

Talrand, Sky Summoner makes an appearance to distract the opponent and poop out supplementary drake tokens in case the unblockable creature core isn't doing the trick, and he has Ring of Evos Isle to protect him.

Finally, a couple copies of Cyclonic Rift to clear the board for an attack.

This deck runs really well, it just needs a strong(er) win condition. Some of this can be accomplished by adding additional copies of certain cards, but for the final product I'm looking for something really vicious that I could potentially take to a tournament or at least ravage FNM with.
