one card i would recommend is Time of Need as it would let you search out your Kentaro, the Smiling Cat , making playing your samurai much easier to cast. it also lets you grab any of the other legends that you need at the time, that and it's much cheaper than any other you can run, eg Demonic Tutor

Time of Need is a really good card for me. thanks for the suggestion. Do you have advice on what to remove to make room?

Patriarch's Bidding is one I would recommend

Captain Sisay !!! Also, since you have access to green, replace Traveler's Amulet with something better, like Cultivate , Kodama's Reach , or Explosive Vegetation .

Although it's an instant, I very much dislike Fated Retribution . It just costs too much. I would replace it with Wrath of God , Supreme Verdict , or Damnation .

Reading over your list, the first thing I notice is the Doom Cannon .3 for 3 burn? AND lose a samurai? Unless you have a reliable way to bring them back over and over again, this could simply be taken out for Lightning Bolt and an Isochron Scepter if you really need that at all. If you're still worried about your mana base, try to acquire more double- and triple-lands, or stuff like Transguild Promenade . I see you've already got a Rupture Spire , so that's the right idea.If you're thinking to yourself, but all of those land enter tapped! Here, try Amulet of Vigor .Replace Terminal Moraine with Evolving Wilds . There is no purpose in paying for an ability you can get for free.Replace Obelisk of Grixis with Manalith or, better yet, Vessel of Endless Rest .If you can, get some of the Return to Ravnica shocklands so you can really take advantage of the Farseek . If you can't, there's literally no reason why that shouldn't be a Rampant Growth for basics or Sylvan Scrying for nonbasics.A cool passive return card is Deadbridge Chant .If you're looking for more ideas, I run a halfway-decent 5-color EDH myself. I balance Chromatic Casual [ Under Construction ] obsessively, so check that for mana stuff.

So i took your advice and removed some of the cards for others.

I didnt have a Manalith but had a Darksteel Ingot and figured it served sort of the same function. i replaced Farseek with Explosive Vegetation .

generally i cleaned up abit. I have put Captain Sisay in the maybeboard mainly cause i dont know how to fit her in.

I have been toying with the idea of Ashes of the Fallen with Haakon, Stromgald Scourge mainly because it feels like s cool play in the same vein as Kinsbaile Cavalier wich you change knight to samurai via Artificial Evolution . But it seems to situational, with cards that only work in these specific circumstances.

But anyway thanks for the awesome advice.

Nice job actually putting together an EDH Samurai deck! Didn't think I would ever see one! +1 for originality!

great concept. Much more interesting than the Karona Ally decks. I had always tried to make a samurai tribal but white seemed like the only color that had enough and I didn't want to do a mono-W. Good job.

Well i have been in love with the samurais since i bought the samurai mono white deck they had during kamigawal. when i later started with EDH i was adamant to use the samurai i love in some way, and thus the first iterations of this deck was made.

I appreciate your support and i have looked around for some cards and hopefully i will have a update with them in a little while. But in the meantime advice is always welcome.

Conspiracy so useful non-samurais can be used...like Avacyn, Angel of Hope

I have been thinking of conspiracy and its uses, unfortunately avacyn is abit on the expensive side.

I will think about it, and well se if she gets in. appreciate the input though.

I'm resistant to putting in the Ashes and the Zombie Knight guy, just because it seems awfully conditional. Like, there's not a whole lot of a point to either without the other. When I build for EDH, I have one policy that I never break:In a singleton deck that's a hundred cards wide, you have a 1/93 chance of drawing any one card (100-opening hand). So, you can simply assume that you will NEVER draw that card, because there is such a small probability of it coming up.When you're building a deck around an idea (in this case, Samurai), every card needs to work towards fulfilling that idea. Combos that only happen when a few cards come together will almost never come together unless you have a bunch of ways to search up the cards or a crazy amount of card draw, so I recommend against watering down that Samurai idea any more than it absolutely needs to be.

I'm with you on that, it seems cool but overall it probably wont do anything and then get my graveyard bogged.

how do you feel about Conspiracy and what creatures to go with it? im also thinking of adding some more reanimation in there like Necromancy and Animate Dead .

Prismatic Omen , both Mikaeus may help also

Yes, Prismatic Omen is going in. No matter the cost.

Thanks for the advice!

Where are your Vow enchantments to make Karona huge and never attack you? Vow of Malice Vow of Wildness Vow of Flight Vow of Duty Vow of Lightning Bushido is a pretty good deterrent in of itself but it can't hurt when your opponents can't attack you with Karona or their certain big creatures.

I think Heroes' Podium may work considering how many of them are Legendary.

Ajani's Presence seems like a good upgrade over Mortal's Resolve .You could try Slate of Ancestry for some tribal card draw although Distant Melody works too. I'd prefer either of them instead of Commune with Nature .

Nicol Bolas and Domri are both powerful planeswalkers but one of the Elspeth's might be better for a deck of smaller creatures. Sarkhan Vol could also work maybe?Ajani, Mentor of Heroes would definitely be an upgrade to Commune with Nature .

Finally, if you're big on creature combat then perhaps Dictate of Heliod or Collective Blessing ?

Boneville says... #19

Noblecrumpet: i have played with the vows before but i feel they can be replaced with better options and unless im facing another tribal or a token deck, i can usually handle karona should she pose that kind of threat. generally though i feel the five cards could be other better cards instead.

Leppa790: I will be dropping Commune with Nature in favor of better cards, most likely i will track down an Ajani, Mentor of Heroes when the set is released. Sarkhan Vol im unsure of but i will drop Nicol at some point as i feel hes too expensive. Collective Blessing seems sexy though, have to consider getting one.

Urza's Incubator is really expensive and i have been scouring for one but so far no luck. in other news i managed to get a Patriarch's Bidding and some foil samurais.

Also expect a update in a few days when i get the journey into nyx boosters i have ordered.

Avacyn, Angel of Hope might be pretty good here, saves your stuff from wrath effects, which your deck seems to have a few of.

May 2, 2014 3:45 p.m.

I would strongly recommend Chromatic Lantern .

...and Door to Nothingness ;)

May 2, 2014 3:51 p.m.

Boneville says... #25

Chromatic Lantern is already in.

Door to Nothingness is fun but i dont know what it will achieve, more than piss off one player once every tenth game or so.
