Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you like the name - I just think Kami of the Crescent Moon is such a trickster it felt right to be a little goofy. Also happy to hear that this deck and play style fits your play group!
I had considered AEtherspouts and will add it to my notable exclusions in the removal pane for discussion. It very well could warrant inclusion, as it's a great card. The reason I currently don't have it in the list is because I feel it is just slightly worse than my other board wipe type effects. It doesn't return to hand, which is actually desirable in a lot of cases for this deck, and I prefer the wipe effects I've included to hit everyone, as usually once you draw aggro it is table wide.
That being said, sometimes you'd rather not wipe the whole board so it is worth talking about for sure! In a heavy aggro meta game I think you are totally right it needs to be in there.

I wonder how this would play against my seton deck that is meant to hit the ground quick anx sprint down until ive charged to victory of death. Especially with Aluren, Quest for Renewal, and Throne of the God-Pharaoh leading me down a very easy way to flood, smash, and scorch the enemy. Playing effects that stop counter magic as well helps.

I also run Recycle and ~28 basics and 6 non-basics because of how rare it is to not have at least 5 mana by turn 3.

That deck sounds awesome! You just piqued my interest in a big way, that is super unique and interesting!
It sounds like your Seton deck would really dig the extra cards, and short of a board wipe Kami would get slammed.

My Marton Stromgald deck would also love this deck as it runs low on steam quickly seeing as it functions as a ticking timebomb.
Marton is a bit confusing, but essentially he gives all creatures attacking by his side +X/+X where X is the number of attacking creatures. So it plays a lot of small creatures, haste enablers and ramps like its trying to be mono-green. Usually if I win via Marton I have about 15 creatures swing 5 at each player, give them trample or something of the sort and call it a game as I like just hit them with at least 85 damage.
I think the problem I'm seeing with my decks vs. Something like your Cheeks deck here is speed. My decks are designed to play a long and short game. Being low to the ground is dangerous for decks like yours, especially when I cant run out of my clock if my hand is constantly filling back to full when I empty it.
For this I suggest Forced Fruition as its an easy way to counteract people dropping their hands out.

My main issue with Forced Fruition is the mana cost. I won't deny it is a powerful effect, but a 6 mana spell that helps opponents draw into answers for the situation it places them in is not where this deck wants to be I don't think. It also leaves them better off in the aftermath, which is sort of a feelbad moment.
That being said, I appreciate the suggestion! and Marton Stromgald is an obscure one, sounds like a blast to play.

This deck is great!
I'm trying to find a protection package for my Padeem, Consul of Innovation deck and Sunstone is brilliant!
I'm trying to find other ways of protecting myself and wanted to know your thoughts on a few cards:
Pacification Array : in combination with Meekstone, can also tap Howling Mine for politics or enemy Winter Orb
Crawlspace : with Maze of Ith and Capsize, nothing is getting through... maybe Silent Arbiter is better? ...but is the extra hate worth it?
Your primer is a big help and really inspiring!
Here is my list: Pool Party at Padeem's!
Any feedback is much appreciated!

Hey Polupus, thanks for stopping by! Im glad I could provide you some inspiration :)
I think your idea of Pacification Array is a great idea! Solid synergies with the cards listed, it makes me want to run Winter Orb again... hah.
I personally am not the biggest Crawlspace fan but perhaps that is meta dependent? I often find myself getting attacked by large single beaters so it rarely changes combat calculus for the board states I see.
Ill check out your build, Im always interested to see what others are doing and it sounds like youve put a lot of thought into your list!

I love the idea of Kami of the Crescent Moon as a noninfinite commander! I am in the same boat with my deck, it is currently my favorite deck to play at the moment, but once dom comes out that may change.

Hey IAmTheWraith - thanks for the comment! your build looks awesome and quite similar - I went and posted on it!
This is probably my favorite commander of all time, what are you thinking of replacing him with once Dominaria comes out?

Not sure. I have been brewing a Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain cheerio storm deck. DOM should make things interesting.

I agree with your comment about Forced fruition.. I've used that card for some time in a blue draw/counter deck, 99% of the time it just help people too much and they draw all their win con or combos or whatever and win. I've removed it and never looked back.

Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain looks to be insanely powerful, from what I can tell from various brews that have popped up. Happy brewing!
Totally agree on Forced Fruition, I've always felt it is more of a funsy casual group hug card that essentially loses you the game. I want my group hug to stock up the table, but not like that.

Heeeeeyyy!!!!
you just shared your decklist here with me on Facebook, and I was looking through it and reading your write up in the description, when I realized you made the Licia, the Sanguine Storm - a deck I already LOVE and want to build.
Good on you, you awesome deckbuilder!

So I’ve been playing kami a lot recently and I thought of a few cards you might enjoy...
Metamorphic Alteration is a very versatile clone effect that can shut down commanders turning them into an extra kami or go offensive turning your kami into giant monster since commander damage is tied to the creature card not the creature’s details.
Kederekt Leviathan is a mass bounce that is actually 2 mass bounce spells. It can also loop with clones like Phyrexian Metamorph. It's expensive, but it can be discarded early game till you get the mana.
Words of Wind is one I’ve just starting testing but it can turn all your draw into board control while letting you get value out of etb creatures and Paradox Engine. The other more subtle strength is it is another way to save you from decking yourself.
I don’t know how your group responds to extra turns but Nexus of Fate feels built for this commander.
Last but not least is the combo with Teferi's Puzzle Box and Psychic Possession. You draw 7+ per turn while everyone else has to tuck their hand, turning bounce spells like Capsize into hard removal.
All in all I’ve been having a lot of fun with this guy! I hope you get some good use from these suggestions!

Hello @piratesthatpwn!
Thanks for your interest in the deck! Glad to hear that you’re enjoying it. Probably the easiest cut for Force is Foil, they occupy the same slot but force is easier to free cast. It isn’t unreasonable to run both, you may even consider just cutting Counterspell or Arcane Denial.
Mana Drain for sure cut Counterspell or Arcane Denial, just strict upgrade!
For Glen Elendra Archmage the cut is tougher, you could consider cutting Venser, Shaper Savant, or something utility wise like Shimmer Myr.
For Snapcaster I would either cut Archaeomancer orTorrential Gearhulk
@Polupus hey thanks for the interest in my deck! I love Kami although my brewing time has been spent elsewhere recently. I have made a few changes that I need to update the list on. By far my largest change has been adding Expropriate in that I pulled out of a different list.
I love all of your suggestions, and I also love how Kami can be built in so many ways and there are so many powerful cards! Metamorphic Alteration is an insane one - I love it and I’m going to find room to double up on Kami while also removing a commander. Pure beauty!
Kederekt Leviathan has always been on my short list. I tend to favor instant speed board wipes as they enable me to play draw go which is my preference. But honestly the card is so powerful it makes me want to break that rule whenever I consider him!
Nexus of Fate is 100% on my add list after it rotates out of standard. Just tailor made for this deck couldn’t agree more!
That last suggestion is a spicy one, wow! I dig it, I don’t know if I can find the cuts for it but I love finding out about awesome random combos like that so thanks for the suggestions!

@Polupus I missed an important one.... Words of Wind is a card I’ve always found intriguing. I have seen it to incredible effect in a Simic Tatyova, Benthic Druid deck which functionally turns extra Exploration effect land drops into a free mass bounce spell. I’ve brainstormed ways to try to make it effective in Kami and have struggled with that simply because we don’t have easy fodder to make the effect asymmetrical.
If you find otherwise - let me know! I’m very curious!
January 10, 2019 10:43 a.m.
re: breaking Words of Wind... Horn of Greed should work as a substitute for tatyova
Sensei's Divining Top could work as well since Words of Wind is a replacement effect which doesn't use the stack, and if you just choose to bounce the top, it won't go to the library when the ability resolves. All you need is to replay top and pay for the ability. You could take this even further for a complete board wipe with Mana Crypt and Alhammarret's Archive to foot the cost and just repeat until you're the only one with a board.

edit: sorry realized you'd need a mana reducer for that last part

@Polupus yeah, I need you to pull Words of Wind off. I need it badly.
I made some updates and added an update thread. Metamorphic Alteration made the cut - awesome suggestion, many thanks!

I was genuinely curious about the deck name when I saw it on the front page. It suits Kami perfectly. I feel like our playgroups could get along quite well honestly, I really like the idea of home ruling infinites to 5 cycles only. I find infinite combos quite dull as well.
As for the rest of the deck it looks pretty solid all around, the only addition I would consider with the deck as it is would be AEtherspouts to assist in protecting you but honestly Sunstone + the rest of your bounce might be plenty. Depends on how aggro loving is your play group.
