Any thoughts on adding Hulk now that it's legal?

April 25, 2017 8:34 p.m.

Voidia says... #3

So hulk is a thing now...

There are a couple schools of thought for Hulk in this deck. Finding room for hate is a must and the decision to include Flash, Hulk, and Mogis's Maurader is still up in the air.

I will return once I have better answers and more data to back up conjecture.

Is there a reason Bazaar of Baghdad, Protean Hulk and Flash were cut from an earlier build of Sidisi?

What was taken out for channeler initiate?

Bazaar of Baghdad was cut because it was not a sustainable source of card advantage because you ran out of cards so quickly. Flash Hulk was considered for this build and is a part of lilbrudder's current list and the brew we are working on with the new demon from Hour of Devastation. It is a good combo that can easily be slotted into the deck but is ultimately a meta decision that comes down to personal preference.

Channeler Initiate and Devoted Druid replaced Bloodline Keeper and Grimgrin, the Corpseborn as the final steps of the Necrotic Ooze line. The mana dorks use -1/-1 counters to untap and make infinite mana to funnel into Walking Ballista whereas the big idiots sacrificed infinite creatures to untap and get the counters.

I'd love to see what you guys do with the new demon once you're done. I'm trying to work it into my deck as either a big reanimate target or have it work with Nooze

I'll keep you posted and the two of us will be writing a primer on the various builds, demon included.

where'd Devourer go?

July 23, 2017 2:47 a.m.

Voidia says... #11

So the Devourer cut is something very recent that I'm trying out. The combo is very volatile and once you start you can't go back so I was initially trying out Razaketh in that spot as just a big reanimation target. But he really shines when you build around him so currently I am testing Apprentice Necromancer because of a newly discovered Necrotic Ooze line using him, Birds of Paradise, and Wall of Roots.

Opening hand:
Command Tower,
Entomb,
Mana Crypt,
Post Mortem Lunge,
Elvish Spirit Guides,
Lotus Petal,
Anything else (let's say Pact of Negation).

Play the land and entomb Hermit Druid. Play Mana Crypt and cast Post Mortem Lunge on Druid bringing it back with haste. Exile Elvish Spirit Guide to activate Hermit Druid's ability. Play Lotus Petal (mox diamond/chrome mox + respective enablers also work here) and make a blue mana. Unearth Fatestitcher, flashback Dread Return, and go to town.

nice! thank you!

What do you usually target with cards like Reanimate and Life // Death which don't give the creature haste? Would you still reanimate Hermit Druid, and hope it doesn't get removed?

September 2, 2017 11:25 p.m.

Also, when would you Dread Return Laboratory Maniac over Necrotic Ooze when you have your library in the graveyard? Is Necrotic Ooze the primary win condition in that kind of situation?

September 3, 2017 12:12 a.m.

Voidia says... #17

Usually the Reanimation effects work with Buried Alive (Nooze, Hermit Druid, Blighted Bat) then activate for 1G post Reanimate to combo off. Necrotic Ooze is the primary wincon. Lab man can be chosen if some of the ooze pieces got exiles.

Hi,

I've been loving the deck and have been playing it for a bit at myLocal store with great results.

I am just very curious what the buried alive is for? Which creatures do you usually put in the graveyard. What is the overall game plan with this card. Thank you!

Wow I should have read the above comment lol. Also what is the plan if your Druid gets gilded drakes. It seems to happen a lot. Thanks!

September 29, 2017 9:14 p.m.

Voidia says... #20

So Gilded Drake is not super prevalent in my meta so it hasn't been an issue so far but I would say that primary plan would be to kill then reanimate it, or just Gilded Drake your druid back.

I'm assuming phantasmagorian is there strictly to dump combo pieces in the yard?

October 6, 2017 1:21 p.m.

Voidia says... #22

Correct, it is a discard outlet that works from the graveyard.

Is it at any point worth playing lightning greaves? Ive been using it in my current meta and Ive been liking it but what are your thoughts?

October 16, 2017 12:09 p.m.

KBet says... #24

I wish I could edit my above comment please see above as well because I just wanted to add to it. What is the main game plan if they exile Druid it seems to be hard to get food chain and scourge together after you spent early tutors for Druid is that the main game plan if Druid is exiled. Are there any cards that easily get cards back from exile? Also if you play lab man but dont play tainted pact and Druid is exiled is lab man useless because you have no way to dump your library in your graveyard? Thanks! Also please see above about lightning greaves. I love the deck btw still doing very well at my local store. A

Voidia says... #25

In regards to lighting greaves, they are a reasonable include but they don't help protect or advance an early druid line which is the decks primary strength, which is why I eventually cut them. Greaves overall help an incomplete version of the deck go faster, but once the rest catches up, they slow you down if that makes sense.

Once Hermit Druid is exiled the plan becomes trying establish a combo manually. Hermit Druid isn't actually a combo piece, and more so just an incredibly efficient enabler. As for order of operations, manual Necrotic Ooze is your best bet, followed by Food Chain, followed by Lab Man.

Lab Man is still useful without Druid of Tainted Pact because it is a win condition that works with Food Chain, and doesn't require the graveyard in any way.

If you are having problems with exile removal then maybe rift sweeper is a choice worth considering.

Glad to hear the deck is serving you well, feel free to post any results or notes you have from testing.
