Maybeboard

This deck is my pet project. After pulling an Invocation The Scarab God in a pack (which was extremely lucky because I never buy sealed product) I became determined to make him as competitive as possible. This deck is pure UB combo with the primary lines being through the graveyard. IF he enters play it is only his Eternalize ability that matters. I couldn't care less about tribal zombie synergies and it would be extremely rare that my opponents lose life or I scry from his first effect.

The primary game plan is Nooze combo. Get Necrotic Ooze into play with Walking Ballista + Phyrexian Devourer in the graveyard. Via Ooze, use Devourer's ability to put an asinine amount of +1/+1 counters on him and then Ballista's ability to ping your opponents all to death. Buried Alive + a reanimation spell is the easiest way to do this. You will want to get this off as quick as possible before drawing too much of your deck and running out of gas for counters.

Mesmeric Orb plays a large roll in this deck. Not only does it fill each players graveyards with potential targets for reanimation, but with either Basalt Monolith or Aphetto Alchemist out you can mill your entire deck. The point of this is to set up a Laboratory Maniac win. Over the course of milling your deck, Narcomoeba comes into play. You then want 2 more creatures on the battlefield to sacrifice for the Flashback cost of Dread Return from the graveyard. You can Unearth Fatestitcher for U, which in turn would let you cast Gravecrawler for B. Another option is playing a land to get back Bloodghast. Sac 3 to return Lab Man to play with no library, just make sure you have cantrip to win.

Another route for a Lab Man win is with Mirror-Mad Phantasm, but requires the help of our general. Get MMP into the graveyard; Entomb is the easiest option. Then use Scarab God's second ability to Eternalize MMP (exile him from the graveyard and put a 4/4 token of him on the battlefield). Activate the token MMP's ability; since it is a token and not the actual card, it will not shuffle into your library. Therefore you end up revealing each card in your library, never finding a card named Mirror-Mad Phantasm, and putting all the cards into your graveyard. Flashback Dread Return the same way I mentioned above for Lab Man. Note: with access to enough mana this whole sequence can be done on the end step before your upkeep allowing you to win upon your draw step.

The list is meant for a more competitive meta, namely fast combo and stax decks. It has enough disruption to foil a quicker combo then mine, and a decent midrange game to try to fight through stax in the long run. There are other win cons in there incase the graveyard is cut off. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion, or infinite mana into a Walking Ballista are options. There are a handful of routes to get infinite mana, especially since adding Dramatic Scepter combo.

I may add more to this mini-primer as time goes on, and will almost definitely make further changes as I continue to play. Thanks for checking out the list!

Voltaic Key usually does net me some mana, but is typically insignificant in terms of what I'm trying to do. I want to add Scepter combo and it makes sense to cut in its wake. Grim Monolith is unnecessary and a proxy, and while Seal obviously doesn't hurt for cheap tutor redundancy, I wanted to cut as many proxies as I could so I don't have to swap out cards for LGS play. Copy Artifact is a good addition along with Dramatic Scepter as it allows for infinite swans combo with Swan Song and at worst gives you further artifact ramp.
