I think you just built a brand new deck. =P
That's a cool idea, though. I had thought about a Rage Extractor build for Standard a while ago, (especially since Corrosive Gale is an awesome Blaze effect), but I don't think it's something I'd actually go for.

Is there any way to 'Tutor' in Red for anything? IdeallyI'd want to Tutor of Omen Machine and let the chips fall where they may...

That's not something Red does, since tutoring is associated with planning ahead, which is the opposite of the impulsiveness Red represents. Gamble, Burning Wish, and Wild Research are the only things that come to mind right now.

Yeah, especially with all the artifact hate in Red, I figured as much.

Ahh, I used to love big red before Zen' rotated.
However, like the old one; I would recommend finding some room for Moltensteel Dragon. In big red he's the bomb no matter when he hits the board; with Koth he's a finisher or can be powered out early by both Koth and Sphere of the suns and pumped to huge size very quickly. At times, if they don't have any flying blockers and there tapped out, I'm pretty sure you just win.

Others have also suggested Moltensteel Dragon, but I've shied away from him because of how he doesn't do anything when I play him. For a control deck that can't draw extra cards, it's important to be able to get as much as possible out of each one. However, you're right about the "I win" if I untap and he stays alive. I might not play this deck again for another week or two, but in the intervening time I'll think about it and talk it over with some of my friends.

That's fair, plus with aggro tacking over the meta recently. Without haste or any other ways to protect himself, the metal dragon is quickly outclassed. Either way, worth considering if control can get it's fist back into Standard before rotation.

Well, we had a good run. At the final Standard event I attended while the deck was still legal, I went 4-3 to place 28 out of 71 players, good enough for 6 packs and a whole lot of fun. I lost to Delver twice and Zombie Pod once, with my biggest weakness really being in my ability to build an effective sideboard and properly implement it between games.
This isn't the end, however. The deck is so super awesome that I'm going to make a few changes and keep it as a new personal casual deck. I'll post again with a link when I get that list together. Thanks everyone for all the votes, comments, and suggestions.

Howdy Rhada, I'm also building a Big Red and I was very happy to see this. This has given me a lot of direction in my sideboard. I'm mostly a kitchen table player and I've never had a need for one so this will be my first deck with a sideboard. Karn seems just evil in here. My deck is trying to focus on Hangarback and wurmcoil with Chandra and her parents.

Yo, if you're interested in Modern and want to play big red you should check out my deck, If you don't chew Big Red, then fuck you.. You've already got a lot of the cards for it apparently, so this would be a natural transition for you to have a good modern deck to play. :)

Rhadamanthus have you thought about slowing down the pace and shutting down Blue deck by adding Omen Machine then you could focus on burn and add stuff like Rage Extractor and Moltensteel Dragon, with Gut Shots and Dismembers...then you could add the higher damage spells like Galvanic Blast, Scrapyard Salvo, and the like, then you could fuel your graveyard with artifacts by replacing lands with stuff like Horizon Spellbombs & Traveler's Amulets. Then you would only really need like 1 or 2 shrines, if that I think it might something to consider. Maybe keep this deck the way it is then work on a second build, or maybe I will and then send you the link...
