Onyx_Mage: Sorry, I haven't been able to look through my cards all week. Been busy with life, I'm afraid. I'll let you know when I've looked through my stuff.

Alright man I'm sorry, take your time, real life comes first. To many players forget that

I didn't read the previous comments so someone may have already said this, but I would drop in a Patriarch's Bidding and maybe get all your dragons out from your graveyard simultaneously.

Fentar: Thanks for the comment!

I do not like Patriarch's Bidding, as I do not want to let an opponent revive anything as well. Also, this is not a deck that swarms. This deck swings with Scion and transforms into something lethal.

Fair enough! Those are good reasons.

Can someone explain to me how Moltensteel Dragon + Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon is a combo? Scion can't be two dragons at once, and any firebreathing effects are nullified once he becomes Skittles...

May 15, 2015 5:37 p.m.

MrAwesomeSocks says... #7

RedUndead40: No problem! Any fire breathing effects actually DO carry over when Scion of the Ur-Dragon becomes Skittles. Because Scion is only an avatar of the two Dragons, any effects will eventually carry over right until his final transformation.

Rule 706.11: 706.11. "If an effect refers to a permanent by name, the effect still tracks that permanent even if it changes names or becomes a copy of something else."

Hope this helps!

Yes but as soon as Scion becomes Moltensteel, he loses his ability to become other dragons until end of turn..... so by the time you're able to firebreathe, he is no longer Scion and can't become Skittles...

Sorry if I'm missing something simple here but I'm just not seeing how this works

RedUndead40: No worries! This discussion comes up quite a bit.

If you put Scion's ability on the stack twice, BEFORE letting one instance resolve, Scion will be forced to cycle through each transformation. Yes, Scion does lose his ability to transform after the first resolution of his ability. However, due to the stack, Scion will still be forced to go through the second transformation, as the stack has yet to resolve.

It works because you have both skittles and moltensteel transformation on the stack at the same time. Moltensteel procks first, and the firebreathing gets added to the stack. Firebreathing resolves, and then the skittles transformation finally resolves. I hope this helps, it may be easier to say that you are activating scion twice before anything resolves, but by piecing what I have said you should be able to understand.

Okay, yeah that makes sense. Ouch, may have to throw Skittles in my Scion deck now...

RedUndead40:

I would highly recommend it!

TheBrownCow: Thanks for the comment and suggestions!

I'm still trying to make space for Scourge of the Throne. Dragon Tyrant is already up there. Atarka, World Render is still a maybe. Her ability is a bit lackluster, considering I rarely have more than just Scion out.

Both Gratuitous Violence and Dictate of the Twin Gods are just too expensive for what they do. Yes, they deal double damage, but for 5 mana, I'd rather have a card in its slot that ends the game, not just speeds it up. Not to mention Dictate of the Twin Gods also allows my opponents to deal double damage as well. I don't do double-edged swords.

MrAwesomeSocks fair enough! Just thinking of some other lethal combos that could be pulled off. I'm trying to make a scion commander deck right now, yours seems pretty solid so I'm draw some inspiration

Maybe it wasn't clear but I was listing out combos above - any of those 3 dragons plus those two enchantments could deal 21 commander damage to any single opponent. I like dictate cause it has flash, but if you don't swing for lethal with it you could get boned for sure

May 18, 2015 1:51 p.m.

TheBrownCow: Ah, I see. That puts things into a bit better perspective. I'll keep your cards in mind. I almost always play multiplayer, so Dictate is out of the question. We'll see about the other one.

hey I've been running a modern edh scion deck for awhile, here's a few suggestions living death Living Death and Pyrrhic Revival Seeing as your dumping a lot of your dragons in a multiplayer setting after one round of dumping dragons you can use one of these for an almost instant win. Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund helps giving your dragons haste and Scourge of Valkas with Utvara Hellkite will pretty much kill all your opponents as soon as your living death or pyrrhic revival hits. Along with Prophet of Kruphix you can dump tons of dragons. Anyway just some combos i've used hope it helps

dragonztalon: Thanks for the comment!

My deck does not function as a swarm and reanimator deck. If it were, though, all of your suggestions would be great ones. However, I have moved on from that version of a Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck and into a more combo based Scion deck.

Another thing of note, I dislike any card that also allows my opponents to get cards back from their graveyards as well (example: Living Death). Yes, I'm well aware that I normally will get more creatures from my grave than they will, but sometimes that one creature will be one that will make my life a living hell.

why aren't you running Patriarch's Bidding?r

May 25, 2015 1:44 p.m.

aznb01777: Thanks for the comment!

I don't like allowing my opponents to revive something as well. Especially when I can swing for lethal with just Scion of the Ur-Dragon out. Patriarch's Bidding is just one of those cards that's just unnecessary, especially since I do not run any of the dragons that take full advantage of a mass revival.

well if you add in a Sudden Spoiling that wouldn't matter and you could just transform into Scourge of Kher Ridges and board wipe ur opponent, plus it is split second so it can't be countered.

May 25, 2015 1:58 p.m.

I mean if you want to spend $3000 on an EDH deck then... this seems good I guess xD

May 26, 2015 7:27 p.m.

Thanksfriend66: Thanks for the comment.

There's also a semi-budget version in the description. I call it semi budget because it still hits around the $500 mark haha. Still a lot cheaper than this one. Also, the price of this deck would drop by quite a bit if I didn't list the foil cards I have. Every foil in this deck I actually have in real life. :)

Well the price can be drastically reduced changing tha mana base... XD That lands are really expensive.
