Yup... It doesn't work... Scion needs to be Mirrorwing on cast... Not on resolution...
Damn... What a shame... cancels Altered Russian Foil order

Can still make Scion into Mirrorwing at the outset of a turn where he is likely to get Dreadbored or something... but even if it did work in the abusable way, it wouldn't be that good. "oh bummer, you got my mana dorks and I got your win condition"

sliversftw the price is only that much because he is foiling it out. you can build a more budget version of the deck by changing a few cards in the mana base and not using foil cards.

When you use the Curiosity + Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind combo, does it not cap out before you can kill more that 1 player?

kinkykonk: Thanks for the comment! Yes, you'll run out of cards before you kill everyone in a multiplayer game. That's why from that combo, you go straight into the Animate Dead + Worldgorger Dragon combo and kill the rest. Hope that helps.

new to scion, why not use Steely Resolve , and whats the purpose of the imp.? thanks for any info

tkizzle: Thanks for the comment! I'll definitely consider adding Steely Resolve in! Putrid Imp is there as a follow up after the Curiosity + Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind combo. It's a cheap way to dump the necessary pieces into the grave to start the Animate Dead + Worldgorger Dragon combo.
Hope I helped!

this seems like a real confusing commander to play with all the combos, i look forward to learning though, thanks for the advice

tkizzle: I don't run Scion like most other players. Most people run Scion like a ramp aggro deck. I prefer to think of Scion as a surgical blade, striking precisely and 100% lethal.
If you have any other questions. Don't hesitate to ask. Always here to help!

since you offered, how would i explain that i'm gonna have scion become two dragon s in the same turn to someone that doesn't think its possible? I can already tell someones gonna call bullshit when i say this is possible. so i pay the 4 MANA, FIRST PULL OUT ONE DRAGON SCION gets his abilities then pull out a second dragon scion gets his abilities. the power and toughness stack because it hasn't changed zones yet? and he can attack cause scion has already been on the field ? sorry if this makes no since

tkizzle: In order to get Scion to transform twice at once, you need to put his ability twice on the stack. Because of the stack, the second activation will resolve first (stack uses a last in, first out). After the second activation resolves first, Scion does lose his ability to transform. HOWEVER, because of the stack, the first activation has yet to resolve. This allows for that second transformation, where plenty of the shenanigans happen. Good luck, and hope I helped!

This deck makes me want to play Wave of Vitriol. How do you deal with that kind of card, anyways?

Penthoplayer: Thanks for the comment!
Wave of Vitriol is actually a card I've yet to encounter during play. The best way to approach a card like that is to stop the player before they cast it. At 7 CMC, you'll likely knock them out of the game before they ever cast it.
Playing this particular Scion deck, you should be swinging for lethal while other players are still beginning to establish their board presence. Players should be dead before they're ready to cast expensive cards like that.
Good luck!

so if you pay 4 mana to transform him first, you get too choose which 2 dragons go on the stack correct? why not pay 6 and transform him 3 times? do i say this dragon is gonna be his second activation, then this one will be his first, then proceed with my attack phase?
July 31, 2016 7:19 p.m.
tkizzle: You can't get multiple dragon's attack triggers off of him. Because of this, there's really no point having him become more than two dragons short of wanting to fill your graveyard.
Typically the way you use him is you set up the stack so he becomes a Moltensteel Dragon first, allowing yo uto spend life to buff him and then have him become a second dragon that has a combat related effect.

doesn't [utter end] seem better then vindicate? unless you wanted land destruction. also i am in the proccess of building this deck, if cant afford all the lands which ones would you consider second best ?
August 1, 2016 8:56 p.m.
also whats the point of skyshroud claim if you have no forests in your deck
August 1, 2016 9:02 p.m.
MrAwesomeSocks says... #23
tkizzle: Utter End can be better than Vindicate at times. However, because Utter End has a CMC of 4, I'm less likely to use it.
Skyshroud Claim can hunt out the ABUR duals that are the Forest type. It's also the only card in the game that allows me to search for two of my dual lands and put them into play untapped.
If you're building a more budget friendly version of the deck, check out the Budget Version of the deck. Link is in the description. It provides cheaper alternatives to the Dual lands without sacrificing effectiveness. Good luck!

Also thank you enpc for answering that other question for me!

What do you think of these new dragons that have came out, would you still rather leave them out and the few new plainswalkers from the dragons of whatever set
enpc says... #1
I'm not sure that works. Because it's a cast trigger, not a resolution trigger, I think Scion has to already be a copy of the Mirrorwing Dragon for the spell to be copied.
