Hey everyone! I've updated it here reflecting the changes I've made to the deck in real life. The updated Primer will be up soon, hopefully. All depends on my work schedule. Let me know what you guys think and if you have any questions regarding the new list. You guys are the greatest!

I'm sad because it's falling away from dragon combo tribal.

Looks like a strong hermit druid list tho.

kilgore: Yeah, I'm trying to find that balance between Dragon combo and HD combo. I might be adding in Scourge of Valkas for when the Animate Dead + Worldgorger Dragon combo is going off. There's still plenty of tweaks to be made. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!

Spirit of Resistance may be a good card in here. When Scion of the Ur-Dragon He still has his 5 color CMC right?

So are you activating hermit to get the worldgorger combo going?

What about Laboratory Maniac? Seems a little more reliable hermit druid path to victory.

In all honesty, I really liked the flavor of the dragon combo list. Savage ventmaw + aggravated assault. Niv-mizzet + curiosity etc.

Hermit druid lists seem to have taken a fall from favor of players. Replaced by Food Chain decks (prossh, tazeri) i don't think this make HD bad necessarily. It is still a fast deck and I'm curious to read your primer.

I see you're running ooze, devoted druid and morselhearder. This seems like the most streamlined HD win.

Still interested in reading the updated primer!

Once it's released, the new Channeler Initiate can be a good replacement for Morselhoarder. Your opponent has a chance to interrupt, but you're adding a functional mana dork.

kilgore: Sorry, work has been killing me. I have Saturday off. I should have it up by then!

April 7, 2017 10:39 a.m.

enpc: Actually, I'd probably run both! This might be a decent replacement for Noble Hierarch. I'm having trouble getting my hands on a foil one.

@MrAwesomeSocks

Cascading Cataracts

This just got spoiled from Amonkhet.

Dying to get your thoughts on it. I know you could have essentially run Crystal Quarry in this deck for the same effect, but I didn't know if that Indestructible would make a difference on your opinion.

Sorry for the double post, but it wouldn't let me edit.

I also just noticed that it adds five mana of any combination. It's not just one of each color, which makes it more versatile and strictly better than Crystal Quarry.

So basically overhauled to play like NarejED's list?

Sorry if that sounded dick'ish, it was meant to be a serious question.

What influenced you to build in this direction, and what choices would you say have made the biggest impact on the deck in terms of overall play quality?

May 9, 2017 10 a.m.

Visage_EDH: No worries, I didn't think you were being dickish. Yes, the deck has been overhauled to play like any other Hermit Druid deck.

The biggest influence was easily the speed of other decks in my meta. The former list just couldn't keep up in a competitive format. Sure, I could consistently bring out Scion of the Ur-Dragon turn 3, but in that same turn other decks were winning.

I'll admit, this new list lacks the flavor and creativity of the old deck, which is why I rebuilt it. That way I still have my old deck, at least for less competitive games of EDH.

I find Haunted Dead to be better than Fatestitcher for the Dread Return combo, or maybe run both. I think Glen Elendra Archmage should go in so you can counter everything once Nooze is out. Infinite copies, infinite counterspells.

Oh my god... you changed the name...

I'm having heart palpitations O_o

May 9, 2017 11:43 a.m.

Squirrel_of_War: Thanks for the comment!

I'd much rather run Fatestitcher. Its cost to pull out of the graveyard is much cheaper than Haunted Dead, and it can also untap a permanent you control.

Glen Elendra Archmage is an amazing idea, and I'll be working on getting one immediately!

JerichoDarkstar: It's just a name change :-)

I love the deck. in fact, I made a budget version to start building. Would you mind taking a loot at it? The Ur-Hermit's Breakfast

Why are you running Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Mogg Fanatic? They feel clunky and outside of combo, Mogg Fanatic offers almost no value. And while Kiki is ok, his reach is limited. I think you might be better off running Walking Ballista as a backup which frees up a slot and provides redundancy on Niv.

whoa whoa whoa... what do you mean by "less foil"? haha jk man. Gotta say, I was one of the subs who was a little sad to see you migrate to the hermit druid combo. there's just something to be said for how wonderful scion is as the leader of tribal dragons.
